Good storyline, bad script

I really liked the setting of the film and the idea behind it, but the script called for mediocre lines and absolutely no suspense or bloodshed. This film, given a higher budget and creativity, could have been good. I study Celtic history and it was good to see a movie that mentioned the Scottish struggle against England in any fashion. But not enough background was given, and actual scenes featuring Murray's torture would have been helpful to the plot. Hell, actually seeing anyone die, preferably by something a bit more than a stabbing after stabbing, would have helped as well. I think the only thing that spared Paris Hilton from killing this limping film was David Nicolle and the girl that played his would-have-been love interest. They both gave good performance given the circumstances.
