Wish I could see this again!

I thought "Carrascolendas" was a really funny show when I was a kid in the 70's, but more importantly, it helped me become interested in learning Spanish (I took a Spanish class in junior high school, but didn't continue after the first semester).

Also enjoyed some of the later musical episodes, particularly the one in which Carracoles, Campamocha, Agapito, and the kids take a trip to the Museum of Science and Industry in Chicago.

I know "Carrascolendas" was produced by the same PBS affiliate which currently produces "Austin City Limits." So if any people from that station are reading this, I hope you'll ask someone to distribute the show on DVD - it'd bring back many nice childhood memories!

Thanks also to whoever submitted this show to IMDb - I tried once before but couldn't get through.

Carrascolendas videos from KLRU online

You can see some episodes of this great children's TV program right here from KLRU: http://video.klru.tv/program/1340985505/

I can't believe how much I've missed Agapito over the years and this great theme song: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JeEJ3YyYziA

I remember waking up early each weekend to catch watch the show. As we didn't have a PBS station until the 198O's, one of the local networks aired the program as part of a syndication package. "Carrascolendas" was just one in a line of great shows like "Villa Alegre" and "Vegetable Soup": http://www.yourememberthat.com/media/12570/Vegetable_Soup_- _Theme_Song/

I especially liked the Outerscope II segments of "Vegetable Soup." However, this review is about "Carrascolendas" and do yourself and your kids a favor and sit down and watch an episode together. It's just too bad that there are too few programs that people can watch together like this one. It's also a tribute to a time when socialization seemed so much more innocent and only limited by our imaginations.
