Probably one of the most coveted roles in film, My Fair Lady's Eliza Dolittle already has a history of being a role most sought after by big stars in cinema - Audrey Hepburn, Julie Andrews and Elizabeth Taylor, among others. Just now, The Telegraph reported that in the latest film adaptation, Keira Knightley was cast as the ambitious, working class girl who started out as a flower seller and became the toast of high society.
Details as follows:
"Joe and Keira are looking forward to working together again immensely," says a friend of the 37-year-old director.
In August, I reported that Knightley had been forced to compete with Johansson, 24, for the role of the Cockney flower seller played by Audrey Hepburn in the 1964 film.
"I have two actresses as potential Elizas, one British, the other American," said Sir Cameron Mackintosh, who is producing the film with Duncan Kenworthy, at the time. »

Tina Mabry's "Mississippi Damned," an independent American production, won the Gold Hugo as the best film in the 2009 Chicago International Film Festival, and added Gold Plaques for best supporting actress (Jossie Thacker) and best screenplay (Mabry). It tells the harrowing story of three black children growing up in rural Mississippi in circumstances of violence and addiction. Simon Cowell to Produce Film About Reality Star Paul Potts

Simon Cowell is producing a film, along with former Paramount production chief, Brad Weston, that will tell the story of British reality star, Paul Potts.
The film will be called "One Chance" from a script being developed by "The Bucket List" writer Justin Zackham.
Julian Jarrold, the director who gave us "Becoming Jane" and "Brideshead Revisited," is in talks to helm.
Variety tells us that Cowell "is producing the project along with Mike Menchel, who helped discover Potts when his daughter watched a YouTube video of the everyman hero, as well as Menchel's Relevant Pictures partner Steve Whitney. Weston helped steer the project when he was an exec at Paramount, and it was one of several he took with him when he segued to a producer deal on the lot."
Matthew Vaughn ("Stardust" and the upcoming "Kick-Ass") is expected to come aboard to help finance the movie.

Julian Jarrold ("Becoming Jane") is in negotiations to direct "One Chance," the story of Paul Potts, who wowed audiences worldwide with his performance on "Britain's Got Talent."
Brad Weston, former Paramount production chief, will produce the pic.
Simon Cowell also is producing the project along with Relevant Pictures' Mike Menchel and Steve Whitney. Matthew Vaughn is expected to come aboard and help finance via his Marv Films banner.

Before Susan Boyle became the cross-Atlantic sensation based on her Britain's Got Talent TV appearances, we had Paul Potts, a cell phone salesman who busted out a stunning aria on the British reality show and, as is the only way to become famous these days, became a YouTube sensation as a result. And of course, the movie version of his life was only a few steps behind. Honestly, it surprises me we went through the entire Susan Boyle thing without a Paul Potts biopic going into production. Paramount has finally picked up the gauntlet, and according to THR will begin production on One Chance, the Potts story that will likely be directed by Becoming Jane's Julian Jarrold. In a story from the Risky Biz Blog, Julian Jarrold (Becoming Jane) is currently circling One Chance for Paramount.
Brad Weston and American Idol's Simon Cowell are going to be producing this project about British reality star Paul Potts. Writing the script is Justin Zackham The Bucket List. Mike Menchel is also producing this project.
Potts, an amateur opera singer, became instantly famous when he first surfaced on Britain's Got Talent. Menchel's daughter actually discovered Potts when she "watched a YouTube video of the everyman hero."
Matthew Vaughn (Kick-Ass) is going to be helping to finance this project.
Paramount hopes to start shooting the film early this year. The goal is to shoot the film and have it coincide with the upcoming season of Britain's Got Talent.
One Chance will start casting soon.

"Becoming Jane" is another one of those Victorian movies which always seem to have the intention to move at a really slow pace in order to get the story across. Costumes and the story line itself makes up for it in this movie, but I can't seem to shake off the slow paces in these types of movies. Anne Hathaway gives a fine performance as the english author, Jane Austen (romance novels). She never married in life and now I can see why. While she had alot of suitors who would have been glad to have her as their wife; she was never thought of as being good enough for anyone by her peers. ... »
