This programme is becoming a rarity in UK programming these days as it represents the BBC operating to it's original Reithian objectives. Each episode highlights the work of local British inventors over the past 300 years. Adam Hart Davies explains their backgrounds, motives for their inventions and the implications of their inventions on the future world. This is often accompanied by simple experiments to highlight the 'science bit'. I think this programme is excellent as it gives an insight to the people and science that would become the cornerstone of the industrial revolution and subsequent modern life. The true quality is the simplistic and enthusiastic manner of Adam Hart Davies' presentation that reflects his interest in the subjects involved. It makes a change to view a programme presented by someone who truly knows and cares about his subject matter.
