- Certain female fighters' outfits (Li Mei, Mileena's second outfit in particular, Sindel) are revealing in nature, showing quite a bit of skin.
- Breasts jiggle when moving and fighting.
- An unlockable picture of Mileena shows her in her second outfit (the one that shows the most skin) with her top removed and her breasts visibly bare, her nipples blocked by the circular hilts of her sais. This picture was created solely to be sexual in nature and printed in certain men's magazines.

- The Fatalities include:
- Spirit Melt: Ashrah summons a field of mystical blue light around her opponent, who, due to this, melts.
- Stretch and Slam: Dairou knocks the opponent down while holding their arms and rests a foot on their spine. From there, Dairou begins pulling violently against the limbs and then releases, sending the opponent into the ground with full force, causing them to explode.
- Eye Stab: Dairou tears out two ribs from the opponent's chest and stabs them in the eyeballs with them.
- Arm Bash: Darrius rips both his foe's arms off, in a fashion very similar to Jax's signature "Arm Rip" Fatality, and slaps the foe with his/her own arms two times with the third strike knocking off the head.
- Rearrange: Darrius makes quick, hasty work of the opponent's body, using his abnormal strength to mix up the opponent's body, resulting in a staggering mismatch of displaced limbs. Before Darrius continues, he stops and ponders for a bit before kicking the opponent to the ground.
- Human Pencil Sharpener: Havik quickly devours his opponent's arms, and then vomits up bloody chunks of meat immediately afterward.
- Batter Up: Havik rips off his opponent's leg, and bashes their head off with it.
- Triple Neck Snap: Hotaru kicks the opponent in the thigh, causing them to kneel down, as Hotaru takes his hands to the opponent and begins snapping their neck. He simply does not stop, as he tries two more times, the third one strong enough to make the corpse flinch from the intensity of it.
- Body Slam: Hotaru takes his opponent's leg and begins slamming his opponent around, causing blood and guts to spill out. A third time, he slides the opponent's body and slams them, causing their entire body to explode.
- Torso Rip: Kira throws her Dragon Teeth, two small serrated daggers, into her opponent's feet, then struts toward her adversary and rips their body in half at the waist, before tossing it away.
- Dragon's Shotgun: Kira slices her opponent twice across the neck, then delivers a powerful kick, which knocks the opponent's head off, as well as sending their body across the arena.
- Heart Shallow: Kobra rips his foe's heart out, just like Kano when he does his signature "Heart Rip" Fatality, but unlike Kano, however, Kobra slams the heart in the foe's face.
- 1, 2 Super Kick: Kobra makes his foe bend over, kicks him/her 2 times, and beheads the foe with a third kick.
- Sword Plant: Shujinko decapitates the victim with a quick slash from one of his swords. As the headless victim falls to their knees, he unsheathes the second sword and plants them in the opponent's shoulders before they crumple unto the ground.
- Shaolin Evisceration: Shujinko unsheathes his weapons as he promptly slices the opponent's limbs and head in quick succession before kicking them, causing the body to fall apart at the seams.
- Mutant Dissection: Baraka uses his blades to slice the arms, legs, and neck of his victim, then stabs the torso and rips it out, leaving the arms, head, and legs behind.
- Head Spike: Baraka uppercuts his opponent's head off, then skewers it on his arm blade, holding it up in victory.
- Fire Breath: Bo' Rai Cho pulls out the torch and lights it on fire. He then takes a swig of his alcohol and spits it all into the torch to create a flamethrower effect, lighting the victim on fire, burning them to death as their body falls apart and lots of blood gush out.
- Flaming Fart: Bo' Rai Cho pulls out a torch and lights it on fire. He then turns around and farts into the torch, creating green colored flames that set the opponent on fire and burn him/her to death. He then shakes his hand in disgust due to the horrible odor of the fart and concludes the Fatality by saying, "Oh, that's a stinky one!", or "Oh, that was a wet one!" before laughing in victory.
- Telekinetic Slams: Ermac repeatedly slams the opponent with his telekinetic powers until they explode. He then yells "YES!" after the opponent explodes.
- Telekinetic Tear: Ermac lifts the victim into the air with his telekinetic powers. With both hands, he brings them together as the opponent's body is suddenly forced into a fetal-like position before spreading the opponent out and rips them in half.
- Dragon Fangs: Goro takes out his Dragon Fangs, slices the foe upward, stabs them into the foe's torso, then follows up by taking one and driving it into his/her throat.
- Limb Rip: Goro grabs his opponent with his four arms and begins to tear them before he throws them on the ground.
- Head Kabob: Jade thrusts her staff into the opponent's head, then flips over and smashes the opponent to the ground, which separates the body and the head, the latter of which is still attached to the weapon, spilling blood.
- Jade Cutter: Jade runs past her foe after cutting him/her, and when she looks at the foe, the foe's upper torso and the lower body split apart and fall to the ground.
- Hook Up: Kabal kicks his foe upward into the air and slices them in half with his hooksword.
- Tornado Cut: Kabal kicks the opponent to make them start spinning, then pulls out a hooksword and slices the opponent into different pieces.
- Telekinetic Stretch: Kenshi lifts the opponent into the air as his arms slowly spread out, with the victim following suit as their body begins to further stretch and expand outwards until the body snaps in two.
- Katana Strike: Kenshi takes out his Katana and violently thrusts his katana through the chest/neck. He then waits a second before pulling it out and slicing his opponent twice in the upper torso region. He begins his victory pose as his fallen opponent falls in half behind him squirting massive amounts of blood.
- Brutality: Li Mei repeatedly strikes at the torso and head of her opponent very quickly, and then stands, striking a pose. The confused opponent then screams in pain a few seconds later and explodes in a shower of gore. This fatality strongly resembles the "Hokuto Shin Ken" attack from the manga/anime "Fist of the North Star", as well as Akuma's signature attack, the "Shun Goku Satsu", from the "Street Fighter" franchise.
- Kick Precision: Li Mei walks up to her opponent and with one swift uppercut, knocks her foe's head straight into the air. Li Mei patiently waits for it to come back down before she kicks it hard at her opponent like a football. When the head strikes them, the enemy explodes into piles of blood and bone.
- Focused Fireball: Liu Kang extracts the opponent's chi and charges it with his own into a large fireball. He then fires it at the victim, tearing them to pieces.
- Soul Invasion: Liu Kang transforms into a spiritual state and enters the victim's body. Afterwards, the possessed victim rips their own head off to reveal Liu Kang's head in its place before he concludes the Fatality by bowing down.
- Ferocious Bite: Mileena removes her veil, revealing her Tarkatan teeth, then charges at the opponent and bites into their neck. She then tears the head off with her teeth and spits it out on the floor behind her. She then smiles grotesquely with a pleased expression, going "Mmmmmm...." before laughing maniacally.
- Sai Lodge: Mileena throws her sais into the air and kicks them towards her opponent. The sais drive into the enemy's shoulders, killing them.
- Axe, Meet Head: Nightwolf throws a tomahawk at the opponent's face, killing him/her.
- Tomahawk Decapitation: Nightwolf decapitates his opponent using his tomahawk, sending the severed head in the air. Nightwolf then catches it and holds it up high for his victory.
- Shuriken Barrage: Noob-Smoke takes out a deck of shuriken and throws a few of them at the opponent's body, before unloading all of the remaining shurikens on his hand over their torso and head, causing the victim to collapse to the ground, dead, afterward.
- Smoke Death: Noob-Smoke disappears into thin air, after which, he hits the opponent in the face, then tears off their arms and head before becoming visible once more.
- Godly Essence: Raiden charges up a ball of energy similar to the intro of Mortal Kombat: Deception. He then fires it at his opponent, blowing them (and Raiden himself) to pieces.
- Lightning Strike: Raiden calls down lightning until it strikes his hand and he fires lightning out of his other, shocking his opponent until they explode.
- Spine Rip: Borrowed wholesale from his rival Bi-Han, the original Sub-Zero, and with an ironic twist, Scorpion plunges his hand into the victim's neck and promptly rips the head off with the spine still attached.
- Hellish Dismemberment: Scorpion fires his Spear to rip off the opponent's arm. He fires it off once more to rip off a leg. As the victim pleads for mercy saying, "No. No! NO!!" Scorpion slowly walks over to the opponent, holds their head and promptly snaps their neck, killing them.
- Kwan Dao Kopter: Sindel tosses her opponent in the air above her, then pulls out her Kwan Dao and begins twirling it in the air. As the opponent falls onto it, they are chopped into pieces.
- Sonic Screech: Sindel takes a stand, and proceeds to Banshee Scream with such force that her opponent's body is torn to pieces.
- Freeze and Throw: Sub-Zero freezes his opponent before ripping the head off, sliding away, then throws the head at the opponent, shattering the body and head.
- Below Freezing: Sub-Zero freezes the legs of his foe and shatters them. He then walks toward the victim, ignoring their pleas for mercy, and proceeds to stomp on them, causing their head to explode.
- Home Run: Shao Kahn uppercuts his opponent into the air, and smashes them to pieces with his hammer as they fall.
- Fore: Shao Kahn hammers his opponent into the ground and then, when they are buried up to their torso, smashes their head off with a golf swing.
- Torture Rack: Using her Kobu Jutsu, Tanya slices her opponent's torso, slits their throat and then stabs them in their abdomen, allowing them to bleed to death as they sink to their knees.
- Kneebone Knife: Tanya rips out the opponent's thigh bone and stabs them in the neck with it. The opponent then coughs until falling down, dead.
- Voodoo Doll: Ashrah flourishes a voodoo doll, and stabs its arms with her Kriss. Her opponent's arms fall to the ground, afterwards. She then stabs the doll in its chest and twists the blade, sending chunks of flesh flying from the opponent's torso, before they fall.
- As before, the violence is graphic in nature, showing tons of bloodshed, including blood pooling on the ground beneath the fighters' feet.
- Compared to "Deadly Alliance", the Fatalities are much more graphic in approach, with more depictions of dismemberment and bloodshed.
- The player can commit a "Hari Kiri", an anti-Fatality that involves the player committing suicide in a graphic fashion.

- Bo Rai' Cho is an alcoholic and uses the fighting style "Drunken Fist", which shows him staggering about in a drunken state. He has a jug of wine at his side everywhere he goes.
- Outworld soldiers mention having an affinity for Edenian rice wine.
Frightening & Intense Scenes

- When using some fatalities on Mileena, she lets out an incredibly agonizing gut-wrecking scream that could disturb some players.
- Some may still be shocked by the violent nature and Fatalities of the game.
- The NetherRealm, seen in both the Konquest and Arcade/Kombat modes, is a depiction of Hell, showing fire, magma, brimstone and the undead damned. The developers claim to be inspired by "evil" and try to showcase this as much as they can (though this is said and done rather tongue-in-cheek).
