22 November 2009 3:11 PM, PST | Twilight Examiner | See recent Twilight Examiner news »

Amidst all of the exciting box office news surround his latest picture - The Twilight Saga: New Moon - the celebration of his birth just nearly slipped through the cracks. Twenty-one years ago today, Jamie Campbell Bower was born . . . or, as his Twitter profile suggests: Winter 1988. A woman cries in Hammersmith hospital. Silence, then a childs cry answers. Some say it was divine intervention others a cruel experiment. I am born Bower became an actor only a few short years ago, making an appearance in 2007's The Dinner Party and then taking a larger role as Anthony in Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber Of Fleet Street. Since then, Bower has taken roles in films like RocknRolla by Guy Ritchie and the remake television series The Prisoner. That's all before he became Caius in The Twilight Saga: New Moon and took the post as Gellert Grendelwald in Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows: Part I »

When "Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides" was announced for a summer 2011 release, fans went wild. Then the project hit rough waters following the departure of studio chief Dick Cook, a big supporter of "Pirates" star Johnny Depp. The Jack Sparrow actor subsequently expressed hesitation about continuing with the series.

Still, the project sails forward. Depp's not a lock until he signs off on the script, which he hasn't yet seen, but Captain Barbossa actor Geoffrey Rush told MTV in late September that he's been told to keep his schedule open for cameras to roll next spring.

And before any of that took place, »

Gold Derby fends off nuclear response to our 'Inglourious Basterds' prediction

19 November 2009 6:59 PM, PST | Gold Derby | See recent Gold Derby news »

My, my, I'm going to have to cook up a huge batch of crow to serve so many of my colleagues who responded to my prediction that "Inglourious Basterds" will win the Oscar for best picture by hurling weapons of mass destruction. Some of them not only freaked out over my "Basterds" call, they went all ballistic. Granted, many like to dismiss anything I say because of, ahem, a few bad calls in the past like "Sweeney Todd" or "Dreamgirls." Ok, Ok, but I've made some bold, prescient ones too. Let me remind you that I was the first pundit on the planet to declare that "Crash" could win best picture. Read my warning here,... »

Could the man who directed "Edward Scissorhands," "Beetle Juice" and "Sweeney Todd" really be the best person to direct "Breaking Dawn," the final installment in the "Twilight" vampire franchise? As odd a choice as Tim Burton might be, popular opinion among the cast seems to be coalescing around him.

"New Moon" vampire Jamie Campbell Bower first came out in support of Burton, telling MTV News earlier this month, "I think he'd screw around with it quite a lot, and aesthetically, I think it'd be incredibly different."

Co-star Ashley Greene seconded that endorsement, telling us earlier this week, "The fourth one's a little odd, a little weird, and I definitely think that Tim Burton would put an amazing spin on it. »

Tim Burton on His Possibility Directing 'Breaking Dawn'

19 November 2009 1:04 AM, PST | Aceshowbiz | See recent Aceshowbiz news »

Although nothing has been set in stone for "The Twilight Saga's Breaking Dawn", "The Twilight Saga's New Moon" star Jamie Campbell Bower has previously expressed his desire to see Tim Burton as helmer for the film. Recently, the man behind "Alice in Wonderland" commented on the actor's opinion on him to direct the latest installment of the vampire drama movie.

"He's being biased, because I worked with him on 'Sweeney Todd'," Burton said with laugh when he was interviewed by MTV at the opening of a retrospective of his work at New York's Museum of Modern Art. "But that's nice to hear. In case potential jobs run out, it'd be nice to know someone."

While Burton chose to be grounded when asked about his possibility to be involved in the fourth "Twilight" film, Ashley Greene has agreed with Bower. "I think that would actually be a really great choice, »

Meanwhile, Bower's got fans of The Prisoner to please, as he's got one of the pivotal roles in AMC's miniseries remake. As 11-12, the enigmatic son of 2 (Ian McKellen), Bower is often silent, but -- as he revealed last night -- quite deadly. I talked to him about his »

Interview with New Moon's Powerful Ruling Vampires: The Volturi

13 November 2009 2:00 AM, PST | movies.about.com | See recent movies.about.com news »

Jamie Campbell Bower (Sweeney Todd) says the ruling class of vampires in the Twilight series, the Volturi, are not evil. Twilight fans may beg to differ with Bower who plays Caius, one of the three leaders of the Volturi, alongside Michael Sheen (Frost/Nixon) as Aro and Christopher Heyerdahl as Marcus. And Dakota Fanning and Cameron Bright are the enforcers of the group, playing Jane and Alec, twins with frightening powers. The Volturi - for those not up on their Twilight trivia - keep the peace in the vampire in the world, punishing any vamps who step out of line. And it's to the Volturi's headquarters in Italy that Edward Cullen (Robert Pattinson) goes in order to find a way out of this world when he believes he's lost Bella (Kristen Stewart), the love of his life, forever.

Jamie Campbell Bower Compares His Twilight and Harry Potter Experiences

Name the two biggest film franchises currently in production. Now name one actor who's in both. Jamie Campbell Bower (best known for his role alongside Johnny Depp in Tim Burton's Sweeney Todd) is fortunate enough to be a supporting player in the second Twilight movie, New Moon, and in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Parts 1 and 2. Bower plays Caius, a member of the Volturi, in New Moon, a role he'll reprise if/when the final Twilight book, Breaking Dawn, is made into a movie. And in Harry Potter #7 and #8 Campbell Bower portrays Gellert Grindelwald, a character who makes his first appearance in the series as the Harry Potter franchise winds to a close.

"He's an old friend of Dumbledore's, a possible lover," offered Campbell Bower at the La press day for New Moon.

'Twilight' star Jamie Campbell Bower wants Tim Burton to direct 'The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn'

5 November 2009 8:47 PM, PST | Twilight Examiner | See recent Twilight Examiner news »

Jamie Campbell Bower, who portrays Caius in The Twilight Saga: New Moon, has not, it seems, forgotten the source of his big break in the film industry. You might remember him as Anthony in Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber Of Fleet Street, and, if you do, you'll know that it was director Tim Burton (as well as the minor detail of phenomenal castmates like Johnny Depp and Helena Bonham Carter) that ushered in Bower's career as a film star. Since then, of course, Bower has continued to make a name for himself with roles in films like RocknRolla (by Guy Ritchie) and Winter In Wartime. He's also been cast as the elusive Gellert Grindelwald in Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows: Part I and Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows: Part II. Yet, when MTV interviewer Eric Ditzian asked Bower who he'd pick as director of the not-yet-officially-greenlit The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn (which, »

Question on who will direct "The Twilight Saga's Breaking Dawn" should it is materialized is still left unanswered, but actor Jamie Campbell Bower has an idea whom he wants to see behind the lens for the project. In an interview with MTV news, the Caius depicter in "The Twilight Saga's New Moon" rallies behind director Tim Burton for the part.

I think he'd screw around with it quite a lot, and aesthetically, I think it'd be incredibly different. I don't know if the fans would like it, but I'd sure like it."

Tim Burton digs supernatural stories: the goth-comic ghost tale of "Beetlejuice," the headless killer from the great beyond in "Sleepy Hollow," the undead love story of "Corpse Bride." In a way, Burton knows vampires too, resurrecting Bela Lugosi — the definitive cinematic Count Dracula — in the Oscar-winning biopic "Ed Wood."

All of this has made "New Moon" vampire Jamie Campbell Bower think that Burton should direct "Breaking Dawn," the expected film adaptation of the final book in Stephenie Meyer's "Twilight" series.
