Interesting psychological character study...

Very French, it feels like the director/writer was going for an overall allegorical effect about a relationship melting and crumbling beneath the surface (Iceberg) and degenerative psychology (Gil). Gil reminded me of an uptight intellectual Jack Torrance (The Shining) with the psychopathic cathartic moment happening in bed rather than with an ax in snow.

The actor who played Allison was very natural feeling and a nice contrast to the actor who played Gil, who came across more theatrical (perhaps better cast in play). But again, there was a pay-off to his measured performance at the end. The wild card is the strange character, Kyle.

Although a short, the film feels like four scenes pieced together from a longer whole. The pace and feel work for me because the source material is just that, literary. I would be interested to see a character and theme driven film from this director/writer in a more invested feature format.
