David Koepp To Direct Premium Rush

12 November 2009 1:00 PM, PST | cinemablend.com | See recent Cinema Blend news »

You may not know his name, but everyone in America has seen David Koepp's work. Remember that Spielberg movie about dinosaurs that came out in 1993? Koepp wrote it. Remember its sequel in 1997? Koepp wrote it. Remember that film about that superhero with spider powers from 2002? Koepp wrote it. Remember the most recent Indiana Jones movie and how it made you want to vomit blood? Koepp wrote that, too. He is the go-to man for blockbusters in Hollywood, but always gets overshadowed by the bigger name (Spielberg, Lucas) or the bigger character. He has also been directing since 1994, but has yet to have the same success that he has had as a writer. That, however, may change very soon. Variety is reporting that Sony has tapped Koepp to direct Premium Rush, a big-budget action film scripted by John Kamps, whom Koepp previously worked with on Ghost Town and Zathura. The »

David Koepp Directing Bike Messenger Movie Premium Rush

12 November 2009 12:21 PM, PST | firstshowing.net | See recent FirstShowing.net news »

David Koepp, who's probably better known as a screenwriter than a director, has set up his next directing project at Sony. Koepp will helm Premium Rush, a bike messenger action movie, being produced by Gavin Polone (who last worked on Zombieland). The story centers on a New York bike messenger who picks up an envelope at Columbia University to deliver. A dirty cop is desperate to get his hands on the envelope as well, and chases the bike messenger throughout the city. The screenplay was written by Koepp and his frequent collaborator John Kamps. I've got to admit, this sounds like it'll be awesome, I'm already excited to see it. Koepp last directed Ghost Town as well as Secret Window, Stir of Echoes, and The Trigger Effect before that. His most recent screenplays include Angels & Demons, Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, Zathura, and War of the »

Cirque Du Freak: The Vampire’s Assistant

Cirque Du Freak: The Vampire’s Assistant

Directed by: Paul Weitz

Cast: Chris Massoglia, John C. Reilly, Josh Hutcherson, Michael Cerveris, Ken Watanabe, Salma Hayek

Running Time: 1 hr 48 mins

Rating: PG-13

Release Date: October 23, 2009

Plot: A teenager (Massoglia) stumbles upon a freak show and meets a wide variety of unusual characters. He must decide if he wants to change his normal life and become a vampire’s assistant for Crepsley (Reilly) in order to save a friend.

Who’S It For? Need your vampire fix before The Twilight Saga: New Moon? This should do the trick. Heck, if you check out the movie posters, they even try to get Massoglia looking a little like Robert Pattinson.

Expectations: Reilly is great. I’ll happily sit through anything the man attempts. One of my favorite moments was getting to see him perform at a small Chicago bar while he was in character as Dewey Cocks. »

Yes, it is hard to do but we uncovered this New Moon 3-D poster on RobertPattinson.au and we had to share it with you. Team Edward and Team Jacob will love this new picture as the hunks of Twilight phase in and out of the New Moon 3-D poster available at Forbidden Planet. Okay, stop staring! Josh Hutcherson: 'If I Didn't Have Fans, I Wouldn't Have a Job'

Actor Josh Hutcherson realizes that the existence of fans plays significant role in his career and he sure knows how to appreciate his admirers. "If I didn't have fans, I wouldn't have a job," he claims on his MySpace when answering fans' question about being approached by fans who are eager to say "hi" to him.

"Whenever someone comes up to me, I'm more than happy to sign an autograph or take a picture," he reveals. "I'm still unbelievably grateful that people find me interesting." And when asked to comment about his "Zathura" co-star Kristen Stewart who complained about her fame in recent interview with Allure, Josh has nothing but praise.

Regarding the actress who has become famous ever since she starred as Bella Swan in "Twilight", he reveals, "I just talked to her at the 2009 Teen Choice Awards. She was cool, I totally had a crush on her when we were working together. »

Kristen Stewart's 'Zathura' co-star Josh Hutcherson says she was 'great'

12 October 2009 11:54 PM, PDT | Twilight Examiner | See recent Twilight Examiner news »

Nearly five years ago, The Twilight Saga: New Moon and The Twilight Saga: Eclipse's leading lady was babysitting the outerspace kiddies in Zathura: A Space Adventure. In Zathura, the bigger of those little boys ("Walter," in the film) was Josh Hutcherson, the newly seventeen (happy belated birthday)-year-old star of Cirque Du Freak: The Vampire's Assistant. In a recent self-propelled interview that Hutcherson had in the following MySpace video, one of the fan-submitted questions asked Hutcherson about his former co-star, saying "What was it like to work with Kristen Stewart on Zathura, and do you guys still talk?" Said he: Unfortunately, I haven’t talked to her … actually you know what? »

Updates: Top 50 Hottest Young Actors- Chris Massoglia and Josh Hutcherson

11 October 2009 1:28 PM, PDT | The Movie Fanatic | See recent The Movie Fanatic news »

There are two young actors cast in Paul Weitz's Cirque du Freak: The Vampire's Assistant who are definitely making waves - Josh Hutcherson and Chris Massoglia.

- - -

- - - Perhaps you are more familiar with Josh, since he did quite a number of high-profiles films - Zathura, Bridge to Terabithia and Journey to the Center of the Earth, among others. While Chris started acting via television, and Joe Dante's The Hole and The Vampire's Assistant are his only work on the big screen, which is not bad actually. In fact, his roles in both films are lead roles.

Both are definitely qualified for the updated Top 50 Hottest Young Actors list, but can they muster enough votes to grab a ranking?

Says Josh in an interview when asked about his acting and not having 'stage parents':

'Cowboys And Aliens' Producers Ready To Begin 'Space Western' With Jon Favreau After 'Iron Man 2'

9 October 2009 6:02 AM, PDT | MTV Splash Page | See recent MTV Splash Page news »

It's been a little over a month since Jon Favreau was announced as the director of "Cowboys and Aliens," but little has been heard about his involvement in the project since—which is completely understandable given his presumably hectic schedule with post-production on "Iron Man 2."

Still, that doesn't mean Favreau isn't concurrently working on the Platinum Studios adaptation—just ask producers and screenwriters Roberto Orci and Alex Kurtzman, who spoke to Collider about Favreau's involvement in "Cowboys and Aliens."

"We just started and we're getting along really well [with Favreau]," said Orci. "We've sent ourselves back to school and we're watching Westerns together and analyzing them. We're just getting into it."

While Kurtzman and Orci stated that they'd already been pouring over the Western genre in anticipation of "Cowboys and Aliens," the producer pair said that Favreau brings "an incredible fountain of Western knowledge" to the table.

Review: Couples Retreat

9 October 2009 5:21 AM, PDT | WeAreMovieGeeks.com | See recent WeAreMovieGeeks.com news »

Last week, I wrote a little about the reasons someone would decide to become a filmmaker.  On one hand, they have a passion for it and their first project is a labor of love that clearly has something to say.  On the other hand, they just feel like it is the right thing to do in their career, and they make the jump from actor/writer/cinematographer/etc. up to the director’s chair.  There was a third reason out there that I wasn’t thinking about, and it didn’t hit me until I was reflecting on the new comedy, Couples Retreat.  The third reason someone might become a filmmaker is that their friends have a screenplay that “needs” to get done, and they turn to you to fill the director’s role.  Whatever lack of vision comes with the second of these three reasons is certainly made even »

Kristen Stewart: "I Couldn't Relate To Kids My Own Age"

7 September 2009 9:15 PM, PDT | buddytv.com | See recent BuddyTV news »

Sometimes it's easy to forget that Kristen Stewart is a relatively established actress before the Twilight films came along, which explains for why she wasn't nominated for Choice Breakout Female at this year's Teen Choice Awards.  And then you remember that she's done a couple of movies that I saw before: Panic Room, with Jodie Foster, and that children's flick Zathura.  I even told my sister that when the movie came on the television one day.  "Want a frozen Kristen Stewart?" I said when I realized she was on it, too.

Amidst all the "ohmeegowsh!" type of articles about her that you see pretty much everywhere post-Twilight, it's quite nice to see an interview on her that does something else.  Not so frantic, actually. »

Stewart: 'I was happy to leave school'

Kristen Stewart has insisted that she has not missed out on social interaction by leaving school at an early age. The 19-year-old Twilight star has appeared in a number of movies since her debut at Jodie Foster's daughter in 2002's Panic Room, including Speak, Into The Wild and Zathura. Stewart told The Times: "I'm glad I could do those films, and I was glad to leave school. I couldn't relate to kids my own age. They are mean and don't give you any chance. "I think the social aspects I haven't missed out on. I am around (more) »

Disney Buys Marvel, DJ Am Remembered And A 'Twilight' Actor Eats A Horse In Today's Twitter-Wood

31 August 2009 3:00 PM, PDT | MTV Movies Blog | See recent MTV Movies Blog news »

Disney surprised a lot of tweeters this morning when the company announced its acquisition of Spider-Man and X-Men publishers Marvel Entertainment. Kevin Smith, Jeff Katz, Dax Shepard, and many others chimed in with thoughts on the purchase.

Elsewhere, the tweets are still trickling in from those remembering DJ Am, including renowned Vegas party-goer Paris Hilton. The list of tweets today was actually fairly thick to sort through, with all of these reactions, a photograph of a "Twilight" star biting into a horse and Bob Saget's response to a fan's request for him to tell the "Aristocrats" joke on Twitter. It's all below in the Twitter-Wood Report for August 31, 2009.

Kristen Stewart Delighted She Started Acting Career at an Early Age

Kristen Stewart says she is very glad that she started her acting career at an early age. She considers her early fame has given her the ability to cope with the pressures of fame during her adolescence. "I think that if I had started now or just a couple of years ago, after the age of 14, if I had waited two more years, I would be wrought," the 19-year-old beauty says.

"I couldn't deal with the scrutiny. I feel like starting out as a teenager may not have been as good," Stewart explains further. "I conquered fears at a young age because I wasn't considering them, I just took them for whatever."

Kristen Stewart's debut in acting industry was in 1999, during when she made an appearance on TV series "The Thirteenth Year". Since then, she has been starring on more than 20 flicks, including "Panic Room", "Zathura", "Into the Wild »

Peter Facinelli Talks 'Star Trek' And Tom Felton Meets Jonah Hill Via McLovin' In Today's Twitter-Wood

Warmoth's out, and he stuck me with the Twitter-Wood duties. He was here in the office only a few hours ago. Why didn't I force him to sit down and write it, under penalty of torture?!??!?! I don't have the routine down the way he does, so I hope you'll forgive what is sure to be a lesser Tw column. I try my best, but Warmoth's shoes are big ones to fill.

I think I hit the main beats. "Twilight" star Peter Facinelli 'fessed up to being a "Star Trek" fan after a follower called him out for referring to a lousy "Trek" fight from the original series. Also, Mandy Moore proved that she has good taste in music while Dax Shepard and Stephen Fry both made some stunning sociological observations.
