Religion, a lethal weapon
Carrie9021010 December 2004
It is no secret that none of his films have done poorly outside of the US, and that Europe is pretty liberal (except for The Vatican). But this documentary was not only well-constructed and scarily true, but funny as well. Granted that this isn't Michael Moore quality the whole point of this special was to watch PoC with both eyes open. It's Mel's father that's a Holocaust denier, and Mel said he believes that his father doesn't lie to him. A very creative way of saying that he agrees with this statement. But he is an actor, and he has to be careful of what he has to say. Bill Maher is right, religion is a neurological disorder and obviously Mel has done one too many stunts that has resulted in brain trauma. Friends of Mel only come to his defense because they're afraid of him, you should be too. I mean look at Arnie he's the governor of California! What if Mel becomes an elected official? I watched PoC and agreed with the critics, it was self-serving over-dramatic crap that had linguists and biblical historians up in arms reviving a dead language (Aramaic) that we're not sure if it is the language that Christ (who along with his followers were Jewish) spoke more than 2,000 years ago.

I wish I were God, so I could make this movie disappear

This movie (if I can call it that) was really bad. Don't watch it. I can only guess that it is rated so high because the people who voted it high were told to vote high for it on this website. I find it hard to believe that so many mindless zombies out there would think this movie is truthful or accurate. Is it true? This movie was bad and awful and pointless, not to mention senseless. There are many other good movies out there you could be watching, why waste your time watching this one? I think all the people who like this move are the ones who have time to sit around watching movies all day because they aren't out volunteering or making this world a better place.

Mel does Well
Jenimay6 March 2005
If you ask me, (which you didn't) I will tell you all that this movie was done fairly well. Having been in a bible study for many years, Passion of the Christ is quite close to what Christians believe as "Gods honest truth". Now there is the religion war itself which is ridiculous. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion however we stand under one God. If you are wise enough to believe in God you should believe in loving one another, forgiving those around you who "wrong" you. Mel Gibsons portrayal of that is right on the money. Truth of the matter is, none of us were there and blind faith leads us in what we pray is the right direction. What we hear in church becomes somewhat mundane about the passion story. This movie puts into clear vision what and why I, and many others, believe what I do. Watch this movie with an open heart and a box of Kleenex. I pray for all of you who gave a negative review and ask you to watch it again and believe. Believe that God who created us only wants the best for his children and is why he gave us his only son. I say two thumbs up. The two God gave me.
