Sex & Nudity

  • a man and a woman live together. they are in a relationship and then he says he's getting married with her
  • two of the four stories of this movie focus on love between a man and a woman
  • While trying on some pants at a store, we see a tall, slender teenager take them off and stand there in her underwear for several seconds. She hands them to her friend to try on. The friend is also seen in her underwear for a few seconds
  • The girls make a pact that "any removal of the pants must be done by the wearer herself". They all look at one of the girls in particular while making this rule, because she is known for being a little promiscuous with guys.
  • Bridget follows Eric to a cantina (against the camp rules) and starts to dance provocatively with him.
  • A large group of teenagers go for a run. Several of the girls are running just in their bras and shorts.
  • Lena goes swimming in her bra and panties. We see her remove her shirt first, and then there is a shot of her taking her skirt off, but we only see her panties for about a second, when she jumps into the water. A boy jumps in the water to swim after her (he only takes his shirt off).
  • Lena's grandmother finds drawings that Lena has made of bare-chested men.

Violence & Gore

  • Lena almost drowns when her pants get caught on a piece of metal underwater. She is rescued by Kostos.
  • A young man tells a young woman that his parents had been killed in a car accident.
  • Upset that her dad has left her to play tennis with Paul, Carmen is very aggressive in her play, resulting in one of her shots accidentally hitting Paul in the head. We see a wound on his forehead, but he ends up being okay, and Carmen apologizes.
  • In a state of anger, a teenage girl throws a rock at a window, causing part of it to shatter.
  • During an argument, several people shove each other.

Profanity

  • At least 3 asses, 2 hells, 6 uses of "Oh, my God," 4 of "Oh, God" and 2 of "God."

Alcohol, Drugs & Smoking

  • A middle-aged woman is seen smoking cigarettes in-between her work shifts. A few other people smoke, as well.
  • A man is said to be an alcoholic, but he is never seen.

Frightening & Intense Scenes

  • It is implied that Bridget's mother commits suicide, and her funeral is shown at the beginning of the movie (although the actual suicide is not). The emotional impact that this has on Bridget is present throughout the film.
  • It is revealed that the father of two teenagers is in a facility, as he is an alcoholic . One of the kids visits him every month, but the other child refuses.
  • Near the end of the movie, Carmen finally calls her father on the phone and lets him know how she feels about their relationship. It can be considered intense because Carmen breaks down and starts crying pretty hard.

Spoilers

The Parents Guide items below may give away important plot points.

Sex & Nudity

  • Bridget purposefully walks past Eric's room, wearing a shirt tied up to expose her belly and open to show her red bikini top or bra beneath it (with some cleavage showing). He then follows her to the beach at night where the two end up passionately kissing. It is implied she lost her virginity to him but this is only implied and never actually said.
  • Lena and Kostas kiss passionately at the end of the movie.

Frightening & Intense Scenes

  • It is revealed that a 12-year-old girl in the movie has leukemia, and the doctors have stopped giving her treatment for it. She is later seen in a hospital bed, and in pretty bad shape. Tibby is shown crying at her hospital bed, begging for her to be okay. She later dies (offscreen) and this leaves other characters very sad. This scene may be difficult to watch for those who have lost a child or a loved one to cancer.
