I saw this at the Vancouver Film Festival in Sept. 2004. I saw it a while ago, so I don't remember a lot of the film. I am surprised more people don't know about this film. It was a good and fun experience. The scene that stood out for me was when the guy went to a New York casting agents office and showed the woman his demo reel and she just rudely said "Do you think New York needs another actor, come on really? What do you have to offer?" And he just stood there saying nothing. That was a very sobering scene for me. I am not sure if this is available on DVD now or what the situation is. But if you have ever acted before or know someone who has this will definitely appeal to you.

pure playing frenzy

This documentary takes us to four different people's different ways right through the very highs and lows of what it means to become a professional actor at the Ernst Busch Academy, Berlin, Germany. A very intense, very emotional movie which leaves nothing undisclosed but remains fair towards the persons featured in the end. "You need to be a bit mad for this kind of job" one of the students says -- "It is existentially necessary for me to play" says another.
"Die Spielwütigen" won the audience's award at the 54th international movie festival in Berlin. Some of the questions covered are: What is success? What's the price one pays? What do they want to make out of my life? What do I want to make out of my life?
