  • Continuity: At the end, when Casey is skating on the ice lake and Teddy appears on the Zamboni, she drops her hat. In the overhead shots, the hat disappears.

  • Factual errors: Snowplow Sam skills are: sitting and standing, marching in place, marching forward, gliding, dips, backward wiggles, swizzles, rocking horse, two-foot hops, forward skating, forward one-foot glides, and snowplow stops. The Snowplow Sam class is learning advanced skills. During the practice session, the skaters are landing axels, which are usually learned much later.

  • Errors in geography: Casey Carlyle, who lives with her mother in Connecticut, goes to a skating competition in Pennsylvania, leaving her disapproving mother at home. Mom has a change of heart, leaves home after the competition starts, drives 200 miles and arrives in time to see her daughter skate.

  • Errors made by characters (possibly deliberate errors by the filmmakers): Velocity times momentum does not equal acceleration.

  • Factual errors: Networks like ESPN do not broadcast junior regional ice-skating competitions live.

  • Errors in geography: In the first competition, the results list spells Zoe's hometown "Wooster." It should be spelled "Worcester."

  • Factual errors: Teddy's Zamboni is too heavy for the ice on the "pond" near Casey's house.

  • Continuity: While Casey is skating on the pond, right before Teddy comes, she falls to the ice. In 1 shot, her leg flies up with no skate on.

  • Errors made by characters (possibly deliberate errors by the filmmakers): Casey's explanation - when she is making her video with her friend - is incorrect. She spins faster because of conservation of angular momentum. By pulling in her arms, she decreases her radius, thus decreasing her moment of inertia. Thus, her angular velocity increases - i.e., she spins faster.

  • Crew or equipment visible: There are many times during the mid-end of the movie where you can see a microphone hanging from the edge of the screen. (In those scenes, the microphone is covered by a black, furry microphone cover.) There is also one scene where the pole of the microphone is easily seen.

  • Audio/visual unsynchronized: Before Casey's first skating competition, when Tina is standing outside of the car, she's talking about the CDs she'll play on the way back. At one point, she says "your music," but her lips are saying something different.

  • Factual errors: USFSA Snowplow Sam classes are for children up to 6 years old. Casey is much too old for them.

  • Factual errors: US Figure Skating tests are not given to Basic Skills levels. Tests are not done during "recitals."

  • Continuity: When Casey talks the girl from Harvard, the girl's hair starts out on her shoulder, then changes in every scene.

  • Factual errors: Casey is shown competing under theatrical lighting. USFSA skating competitions do not have theatrical lighting.

  • Continuity: In all the shots of Casey between putting on the outfit her mom got her for the Harvard alumni tea and arriving at the tea, the portion of the skating costume covering her hand isn't visible. When she reaches for an hors d'oeuvre, however, that portion of the costume is clearly visible.

  • Factual errors: Casey is shown competing with music that has words in it. USFSA skating competitions do not allow music with words for programs. If words are used then the skater has points deducted.

  • Errors made by characters (possibly deliberate errors by the filmmakers): When Casey serves the food to the skaters, she gives the total adding 1.65 plus 2.35 plus 3.55, saying it equals to 7.30, when it adds to 7.55.

  • Revealing mistakes: At the party when Casey has figured out that the boy will swing through the window (and he does), as he goes through the wooden frame there is no breaking or shattering of glass as there would have been if break away glass had been used in the scene.
