The Most Overrated Presenter On Irish Television
zofos21 November 2008
Just like everything else on RTE, this show is just a rip-off of countless other shows on British TV ("Fuel Your Imagination" is RTE's slogan. What a joke. Plagiarism doesn't fuel anything, get your own ideas!) Do we really need a show like this? It seems like a self-indulgent waste of money. Surely there are other programmes that this money would be better spent on. Who can afford these holidays in a recession anyway?

Kathryn Thomas is the presenter of this show for many years now. She is raved about and raved about on Irish TV, radio and in print. Is there something I've missed? She won "Personality of the Year" at the Irish TV & Film Awards (a notorious hive of back-slapping nepotism). What personality? I've seen more personality in a wet tea bag. Her "job" (I wouldn't call it work) is to get paid to go on holiday at the Irish taxpayers expense on this show (not to mention her easy National Lottery gig) then come home and boast about how great she is on TV/radio/in print and then write a book about her travels and make even more money out of it! She clearly has friends in high places as you don't get a fun, easy, extremely well-paid job like that on RTE unless you know people.

Everyone raves about how good-looking she is. Again, I don't see it. I'd say she's average-looking at best. She just seems like a self-important person who can't shut up talking about herself (with her big, loud country Garda's voice) and how "great" she is in her own mind. Not my cup of tea.
