The real life underdog tale of Francis Ouimet, the young, working class caddy turned amateur golfer who beat the odds and rose in the ranks of golf to face off with the British champion, his idol Harry Vardon, in the 1913 U.S. Open. Shia LaBeouf is the 20-year-old Ouimet, Stephen Dillane the veteran Vardon (himself spurned by the British elite for his lower-class origins) and Josh Flitter is Ouimet's spunky 10-year-old caddie Eddie. Elias Koteas and Marnie McPhail co-star and Bill Paxton directs the class-conscious sports drama.
