Storyline

The Legendary Zorro goes off on another adventure to protect the future of California and its citizens. This time, he fights against evil-doers with the help of his beautiful wife, Elena, and their precocious young son, Joaquin. Alejandro De LaVega is torn between two worlds: his life as Zorro and his life as a family man. After Alejandro once again breaks his promise to stop wearing the mask, Elena leaves him, and soon begins seeing Armand, a haughty French Count. But a mysterious explosion in the desert leads Zorro to believe that there's more to Armand than meets the eye, and our hero is intent on finding out what that is. Little does he know, there are others working to uncover certain truths as well. Written by amneris21

Trivia

Contrary to false claims, Antonio Banderas is not the first Spanish actor to portray Zorro. Spanish actor José Suárez portrayed Zorro several decades earlier in the 1953 film La montaña sin ley, who is followed by another Spanish actor Carlos Quiney in three 1970s films La última aventura del Zorro, Zorro, Rider of Vengeance, and El Zorro de Monterrey. Banderas is also not the first Latino actor to portray Zorro; he is preceded by other Latinos such as Rafael Bertrand (1964), Rodolfo de Anda (1976), and Henry Darrow (1980s). See more »

Goofs

Factual errors: In the fight scene on the train near the end of the movie, the engineer is thrown forward, pushing the throttle in the cab of the locomotive forward. This has the effect of making the locomotive go faster, when in fact, the train should have stopped. Pulling the throttle back would have made the train go faster. Also, opening the throttle, as was the intent, will lower steam pressure - not rapidly raise it as shown. The only way to raise steam pressure is to add fuel to the fire. Using steam (as in going faster) lowers steam pressure. See more »

Frey Felipe: Don't bother coming to confession because I'll never forgive you.
Zorro: You blackmail my soul, eh?
Frey Felipe: Hell yes.
