  • Continuity: Phil gets a black eye from Mike Ditka, but the next day when it shows Phil talking to Ditka- the black eye is no longer there.

  • Continuity: When coach Phil is giving away the birds, several kids take a cage from the box. In the next shot, the box is full of birdcages.

  • Continuity: In the semi-final game, Massimo is tripped and gets a free kick, he takes the free kick and it is clearly going over the defenders. In the next shot it strikes one of the defenders in the midsection.

  • Audio/visual unsynchronized: Right after Phil gets punched by Mike Ditka, it shows him at his house. When he starts to cry after kissing his wife he says, "I'm in way over my head," but his mouth is not moving.

  • Continuity: When Phil calls the team to the picnic benches after describing how they are slothful to Ditka, it is clear that the Goalie (Ryan) is one of the first to run over and sit down on a bench. In the next shot of the team, the Goalie is still walking to the bench.

  • Continuity: During the player introduction, a single soccer ball is passed around the circle to whatever player is speaking. However, in several wide shots, all players have soccer balls at their feet.

  • Revealing mistakes: When Sam and Ambrose are inquiring Gian Piero about the Italian language, Massimo is seen eating pizza behind Gian Piero. In the next shot, the pizza is gone, and Massimo is sitting aside Gian Piero.

  • Continuity: When Phil & Buck are in the basement playing darts, Buck throws a bullseye, then pulls his darts from the board, thus leaving the board free of darts. Phil's first ensuing throw lands in the neon sign, breaking it. Buck throws his dart and lands a bullseye, but there are two other darts in the bullseye circle in the close-up.

  • Crew or equipment visible: In the finals, when the referee calls both coaches (Phil and his dad) you can see the shadow of the tarp that covers the sun on the field.

  • Continuity: When Byong Sun gets the ball when the team was passing the ball around the circle and introducing themselves, his hands are behind his back. As the shot changes, you see his hands in front of him. As the shot changes again, his hands are behind his back again.

  • Continuity: After the Tigers' first game, it shows the standings. The wins and losses don't add up. Tigers should be 0-3 or another team should have a loss.

  • Continuity: When Phil is calling Ditka a juice box guy the camera changes back and forth from each of them. Ditka's reaction at first is calm then angry then calm and then angry. When the camera goes back and forth on him you can see that as Phil is talking he is calm then when the camera is on him he is angry.

  • Miscellaneous: When Phil is kicking the soccer ball in his house he goes to kick it with his left foot but in the next camera angle he can be seen kicking it with his right.

  • Continuity: When Phil is talking to Sam to tell him he is not playing on the Gladiators any more, he has no soccer ball and there is no-one behind him. When he moves to lie down, he is holding a soccer ball.

  • Continuity: When Phil is being introduced to Byung-Sun he receives a blue book and one of the moms is holding a yellow book. In the next shot he has both books.

  • Continuity: When Hunter is introducing himself and he says he will he a worm for five bucks, the position he is holding the worm in changes.

  • Continuity: When Phil and Buck are making their bet, the Pele ball is seen on the fireplace mantel in the living room. Earlier in the film, the ball is shown in Buck's study.

  • Factual errors: During a normal soccer game, players are not allowed to kick the ball up to and behind their necks and "carry" the ball in that manner. Also when the player lifted his team mate to head the ball into the goal is not allowed. Either of these infractions fall into dangerous play or unsportsmanlike behavior resulting in a yellow card (warning) or red card (ejection from game)

  • Factual errors: Although the referee wears an approved FIFA uniform, he does not have a patch on his left chest pocket indicating his grade/certification. Normally all center referee's are Grade 8 or higher.
