Ever since setting up my RSS feeds in Google's Reader my life has changed in ways unimaginable. I used to have this crummy RSS Firefox add-on that worked, but oh man it is nothing compared to the Goog's. Case and point would be the fact that I probably never would have seen Gawker's interview with Joss Whedon ("Firefly", "Buffy", Serenity) had it not been for the almighty Reader and this one kicks all kinds of ass. Joss Whedon news is typically like posting news on Harry Potter or, now, Twilight, meaning if you get something juicy and original the Browncoats will come flocking and this Gawker interview is a great example. While this may not be the ultimate interview in terms of bringing information it is one great read, which is what interviews should be, not endless streams of "Hey, what about Serenity 2?" questions. Let me give you a sample

MGM has acquired and greenlit The Cabin in the Woods, a thriller penned by Joss Whedon (Serenity) and Drew Goddard ("Lost", Cloverfield) with Goddard signed to make his directorial debut and Whedon producing. No story details have been revealed. [Variety] Animated film Planet 51 has been picked up by TriStar Pictures for release on November 20, 2009. The film starring the voice talent of The Rock and Jessica Biel centers on an astronaut who lands on Planet 51 thinking he's the first to set foot on it. To his surprise, he discovers it's inhabited by little green people who live in a white picket-fenced world reminiscent of 1950s America. New Line originall had the project when it was announced in November of 2007, but when New Line folded into Warners it was ultimately let go. It looks like Joss Whedon will be heading back to theaters soon. No, it won't be Buffy or Serenity, but rather a thriller he co-wrote called The Cabin in the Woods.
Variety reports that MGM has bought the script, which was co-written by the film's director, Drew Goddard. I know...it's a little bit of a letdown knowing Whedon won't be directing, but it's a little exciting that Goddard - a writing and producing vet of Buffy, Alias, and Lost - should finally get a chance to direct. Especially when you weigh in the fact that he wrote Cloverfield.
We don't know much about the story, but I think we take a guess. I mean, it's a thriller called The Cabin in the Woods. Probably won't be a nice, relaxing weekend in the country.
What we do know is that the film marks something of a milestone for MGM. One of the original major studios,

Buffy, Angel and Serenity fans have been on the edge of their seat waiting for Joss Whedon's next project to get off the ground. Today MTV checked in with the writer-director-producer about a bunch of projects that have been in development, including Goners and a new film entitled Cabin In The Woods. Good luck trying to break through his cryptic speak, only time will tell just how horror (if at all) Woods is. Joss Whedon revealed to MTV this evening that his is currently working on a new project with Buffy alum and Cloverfield scribe Drew Goddard entitled Cabin In The Woods.

London-born stage actor Chiwetel Ejiofor first entered cinema with 1997's Amistad, but his breakthrough came five years later, with his memorably adept, sensitive starring role in Stephen Frears' Dirty Pretty Things. That film put him on the map, and roles followed fast and thick, in Spike Lee's She Hate Me and Inside Man, Woody Allen's Melinda And Melinda, John Singleton's Four Brothers, Ridley Scott's American Gangster, and Kasi Lemmons' Talk To Me. Most memorably, he played the chilly antagonist known as The Operative in Joss Whedon's Firefly spin-off Serenity, the more hot-blooded antagonist Luke in Children Of Men, and the flamboyant transvestite Lola in Kinky Boots. Ejiofor's latest starring role, in David Mamet's Redbelt, has him playing a passionately principled jujitsu instructor trying to navigate moral challenges in a typically complicated Mamet web. The A.V. Club recently sat down with Ejiofor
