Matthew Hollaway and Arthur Marcum who wrote this mess, must have had their heads in a hole or something! I gave this a vote of 2 stars out of a possible 10 stars - and that was being generous.
One of the reasons I watched this film was because I thought it was going to star James Spader, a brilliant actor, I've been quite enthused about ever since he shampoo-ed Maggie G.'s hair in "Secretary." However, James Spader did not have the lead in this film.
Instead the main character of Harrison French was played by Matthew Davis, an actor I've never even heard of before, not that it made much difference, since the film made very little sense.
The main problem I had with this film was trying to figure out just who was related to whom, and how they were related. I was never totally successful. That undoubtedly added to the murkiness of the film.
We start out with Harrison French (Matthew Davis)driving his car home in a pounding rain--the likes of which I have not seen in years in real life--and suddenly there's a man standing in the middle of the road, in the middle of nowhere. Why he was there was never made clear.
The story, such as it is, continues to drag along, Harrison seems to be getting into deeper trouble but it's hard to know really, since nothing comes of it for so long.
In addition to the confusing, stagnating storyline, Harrison is involved in some kind of career that has something to do with making bids on estates. This likewise is never made any clearer.
There seemed to be some possible adultery, which never amounted to anything, and maybe a frame-up.
The plot was as clear as looking through muddy water.
