--In vol. one we are suppose to think of her simply as a killer. We don't know her or her background (or her name) so we can not connect with her on the same level. We don't really know why she is after the vipers except for the actual fact that they tried to kill her and her baby. But what i mean is, maybe she did something to screw them over that we were never shown and they had a good reason to 'get back' at her. But we do not know the whole score in the first volume so she is just an unknown killer, and if you take notice vol 1 is more bloody and less story. But in vol. 2 we learn her story and why she left the vipers and why she deserves her revenge. She does not seem like a nameless killer anymore and she earns a name. Hence vol. 2 having more story and practically no blood.

--It's just a humorous scene to again tell the audience (who has been waiting for two volumes) what her name is in case you may have missed Elle saying it. Because you know in a role call scene they are most definately going to say her name. So if by chance you missed it, you are of course going to pay extra special attention. I have also heard some people say though that it is reminiscent of Annie Hall. In which Woody Allen has flashbacks to his grade school days when he is an adult. But instead of being a child he is a full grown Woody Allen.

--Here is some dialogue to help you out:

Esteban: "Bill shot you in the head, no?" Kiddo: "Yes he did" Esteban: "I would have been much nicer...i would have just cut your face"

Also notice how he makes a vertical motion with his finger up and down his lips when he says this. If you are still confused it is because Esteban cut her face.

--Budd lies simply to hurt Bill. Obviously Bill and Budd are feuding and Bill must have done something to Budd (seeing as how Bill says "Can't we just put the past in the past?"). And the sword was a huge gift to Budd. To tell Bill he sold it was just meant to be a crushing blow at his heart.

--It is not explained. They probably just had some sort of altercation. Maybe it was over what happened with the wedding massacre. Budd possibly was not proud of what happened that day and could not go on with the business. Notice the look on his face during the bride's flashbacks. Maybe that is what caused the split with the vipers. Who knows? Again, just a theory.

--Well there could be many answers to this. Elle could have called him on her cell phone. Esteban could have given him a heads up that he gave her a map to his home. He may have seen through Elle's story because a snake in a trailer is not the Bride's usual technique in killing the other vipers. It was always face to face combat. Everyone was given a fair chance. But i even think there may have been a surveillance camera or two set up near Bill's door. Seeing as how Bill, and BB especially, were in no way surprised to see her. And you would think BB would be after not ever seeing her mother. So Bill probably saw her coming down the hallway and told BB that she was coming and instructed her on what to do. Because if it was a surprise, any little kid who has always wanted to see their mom would instantly spaz out and run to her the moment they first saw her.

update:

in the beginning of kill bill 2 he also tells his brother bill to look out. he mentions how she killed all of the crazy 88's and o ren ishi. i dont think he would expect his brother to kill her of after all that.

--I don't think this is one of those situations where everything could just slide though. Bill didn't just have the vipers go after his ex-lover, but also his unborn baby. He did something horrible. And maybe when he sent Elle to kill her while she was sleeping...it was a way for him to say he was sorry. By giving her 'a luxury their kind is rarely afforded'. But then he realized that he couldn't do it because Kiddo should have the opportunity to face him in battle. And maybe Bill knew that this was finally the one thing he did that he should ultimately be punished for. So he called Elle and told her to abort the mission. Of course, that is all just speculation though, and not a proven answer.

--Why not? But to answer it a little more indepth, Kiddo tried to start a new life where she was going to put all of that behind her. She was going to try and live out her days like a normal woman. And Bill knew that she could never do that because she was a natural born killer...like him. Also Tarantino could have been making reference to the movie he wrote entitled natural born killers. (although he has said that he dislikes the movie and what oliver stone did with it)

Bill's Chinese flute appears to be a Bawu flute or at least a variation of a "free reed" bamboo flute.

What happened to Elle?

When we last saw Elle Driver, she was left blinded by Beatrix in Budd's trailer with the same black mamba in the room that killed Budd. Because of this, most fans say that she died. However, during the credits, when each actor or actress that portrayed a member of the Deadly Viper Assassination Squad shows up, their name is crossed out. However, when Darryl Hannah's name appears, a question mark shows up. In addition, rumors have surfaced that if Tarantino ever makes further sequels to Kill Bill, it focus on people seeking revenge on The Bride, as they deserve their revenge as much as The Bride deserved hers. This would mainly point out Nikki Bell, Sophie Fatale, and Elle.
