Can a tourism pamphlet and a glossy men's magazine together make an erotic masterpiece?
Eunus1 January 2010
Significant as one of the latest decent examples of erotic cinema before the genre faded away to cable TV accessories, Joy en Afrique, as it is the case with all films of the series, basically plays to the Emmanuelle caricature: a sentimental but sexually adventurous beautiful young woman in exotic lands. However, some elements never really fit in because the Senegalese riviera stands too different from the dark 1970s backwaters Emmanuelle and her clones used to frequent, danger and eeriness all ridiculed by a gigantic touristic signboard that reads "Bienvenue au Sénégal". On the other hand, it marks a delightful display of Zara Whites and her efforts to make a name in softcore erotica that only "earned" her Roberto Malone in the end.

Good documentary

Filmed in Dakar (Senegal) in the early 90's, this is a good picture to see the city at that time. Some sequences in Gorée Island, other in city center or outside (casamance ?)

The story is not so fantastic but it doesn't matter actually for this kind of movie.

Zara Whites is absolutely the cutest actress if the category and the whole series of "Joy" suits her so well.

Worth seeing !!

For an erotic movie, it's really different from others. Music is sweet and makes the continuity with the series. This one in Africa is soft but still some nice views that cannot be seen in modern erotic movies.

If you want to remind yourself of Dakar, definitely get this movie.
