The production needed a usable but "ancient" harbor, which proved very difficult to find. Scouring the British coastline the designer and production manager thought they had found the perfect location in King's Lynn in Norfolk - only to discover that its wonderful period look was strictly temporary - it had been constructed solely for the filming of Hugh Hudson's ill-fated epic Revolution (1985). It looked perfect because it was a film set.
