One of the rare instances where the Nintendo Entertainment system version is better than the arcade. Not really saying much with this game, but a few highlights the home console version has is a storyline, definite stages, boss fights, and an ending to wrap it all up. Not a lot of thought went into a 'plot', and the game quickly degrades to pointless bullet storm most of the time. The rescue aspect is a neat feature, as is the 2-player option with a driver and gunner.
Arcade version does have better graphics, but is the only improved aspect. Devoid of the list above, you run, gun, rescue, repeat, and then there's the end. Not a satisfying quarter-plunker, no real feeling of action or excitement beyond the first few seconds.
Jackal / Top Gunner had a lot of potential, but lesson to be learned here is not to send a jeep to do a tank's job.
