It's a German version of that dreadful Hollywood flop "Flying Boy". Immediately after you sat down in a theater, you are overwhelmed by the generous usage of CGI , while being flabbergasted by total lack of any tenable plot.Although I don't want to complain about "historical fact", it gets my nerve to watch a young and lanky German actor (whose acting indeed is not bad at all) plays a short and stout Manfred Con Richtofen. On the other hand , tall and aggressive younger brother Rothar was portrayed by an almost effeminate youthful actor.Worse still, Til Schweiger plays Werner Voss who was 5 years younger than the Baron..Herrgott! I don't want to mention about the fact that Boelcke, Goering, and Allmenroder ,whose lives were indispensables to portray the life of the Red Baron, were totally omitted in this movie. What was matter with a person who casted these actors and screenwriter who wrote such a delusional script? There is no single shred of realism and I am afraid of saying that there might have been no exertion to portray real historical people whose lives were certainly much more interesting and dramatic than those depicted in this movie. And ..those pacifist message the Baron constantly delivered!!give me a break!! The Baron was a professional soldier , not war-conscript and he himself said everything else was nonsense other than shooting down an enemy in dogfight..He was certainly not as bloodthirsty and aggressive as Berthold , but certainly not the one depicted in the movie, either. This movie is just a good example of movie made by those who lost their past and live in historical amnesia.real tragedy indeed!
