Even in a world gone Stupid this movie wouldn't make sense...
davorm14 February 2004
I totally hated this movie. Just watching it made me feel instantly stupid. I'm not really sure what the whole point of it is or was. But there are some props to give. The 2 guys that did this, I'm sure it wasn't easy to do all this so thats kind of cool even though the movie is horrid. And the only cool scene is when a fight is happening between the 2 cops and the one bad guy and his robot. It's all in darkness but each person and what they are doing at different times are showen in full light even though they are in total darkness. Other then that. Bad movie with bad animation. Stay away... wish I had...

Dull people have a story to tell, one not worth listening to
mp3dude49 July 2003
This follows the lives of four dullards: - An aging and befuddled cop nearing retirement. - A confused ex-Army robot who is missing a few pieces. - The not-too-successful criminal wannabe. - A young burnout who somehow gets in the NYPD.

None of them are worth watching or caring about. How any of them survive from one day to the next is a mystery not worth contemplating.

This is worse than "Plan 9 From Outer Space." Plan 9 was bad in a way that was funny. MP is just plain boring.

Oh, and the big claim to fame is animation using "custom software." Timing is off and motion is very slow. To make up for it characters "glide" after each too-slow step.

A hint to the twin brothers who made it: Don't quit your day job.

This film should go missing
phila-327 September 2006
I have often wondered if I had seen the "worst film ever" already. Now I know that I have. It took a matter of around 15 minutes or so into the film before an almost mad "who can get out of the theater quicker" scramble for the door happened. On the particular night that we viewed "Missing Persons", at the Cinequest Film Festival, the only people left in the theater after the mad dash to leave, were the two filmmakers and one other patron, whom I assume was snoozing. "Missing Persons" has so much wrong with it, it is almost impossible to list.As an animated feature, keeping in mind that this was created with software that the filmmakers put-together, this was an absolute schlock! The animation was absolutely horrible. Lines kept moving away from the solid fill colors and would sway here and there. Characters seemed to float when they were supposed to stand still. It appeared beyond computer- generated - of which there is no excuse in this day and age. If one can afford to make a film, one can afford to pay the inexpensive price of a decent animation software. In regards to making your own software (after watching this drivel), all I can suggest is, "Kids. Do not try this at home. Humiliation is a bad thing."

What is this film about? Who the hell knows! A drug lord who doesn't die after having half of his body shot off, with a smart-mouthed robot side-kick, and bumbling detectives. If that tells you the storyline, you are ahead of the audience. Which brings up another folly in film-making - the voices were unintelligible and mumbled throughout. This was not a production flaw, it was meant to be that way. Clue to the filmmakers - One needs to hear the words understandably in order to make it actual workable dialogue. Would I suggest this film? I would only suggest burning it. And I mean that with respect. Avoid this at all costs!

i'm still freaked out
noborgo11 July 2003
i saw this movie three days ago and i'm still dizzy from it. it's just one of the wierdest movies ever made, funny as hell..but really hard to describe.....

one scene has a robot trying to get a job as a pizza delivery boy, showing his resume which has his mugshot on it and I SHOT A COP scribbled on the bottom. and he gets the job!

another scene has a gangreened drug dealer (who just had his legs and stomache blasted off) picking a fight with another drug dealer and bragging that he's invincible

the animation is half 2d\half 3d, also very wierd, with alot of water and metal reflections. it's a little too bloody at parts and definitely not for kids but a great movie to watch!

unique
lizardneckface26 January 2005
its definitely one of the most unusual things I've seen. hard to say what this movie is really about because it tells its story in odd little scenes that always seem to be already in progress. feels like eavesdropping a lot of the time and you have to figure out the context for yourself. its about cops and robbers but where the cops aren't even chasing the criminals they just keep bumping into each other.

the animation is sort of mixed 3d and illustration with very lifelike camera movements and many strange mise en scene elements like bowls of spaghetti that just make you wonder what the hell is going on here? the robot is somehow the most human character although it doesn't do or say much.

I am watching
foomonger19 February 2005
Here's how I rate movies, it's simple.. are they still in my mind a week later?

well, it's been a couple of weeks since I watched this, and it's still there; a lot. fragments fall off and demand attention; the juxtaposition of elements in the "custom software", the indelible character shocks, the monotone audio-play; the brothers voiced the whole thing, you know; the twist that was waiting from scene one, if only I'd spotted it, damn! the whole damned thing.

I can't get it out of my head. Already I'm looking forward to what these guys will do next. I see visionary film-making in the making, and I want to fast-forward to when their "custom software" does everything they want it to. I'd slave my coding skills an hour a week or more to help them realise this dream! whatever it is..

There's much confusion, much to be discovered, but the lives of these characters is indelibly printed on my mind's eye, and their creators jumped to my physical eye's lucid focal spot.

If you enjoyed Lost in Translation, or perhaps "The Passion of Christ", then stop here (the full movie is now available for download at the creator's site), sit back and revel in the intimate moments this fine work offers, there are too many beautiful vignettes to specify, a clue: the vintage robot is the only player to express more than two dimensions.

stop adding sugar to your beverages for two weeks, then watch it again (I think I'll do that soon), suddenly that baby makes sense. I'll stop now. Unless you've seen this, this all seems like crazy text.
