Mining the multitude of fan-made trailers on the 'Net occasionally yields a real gem (for example: "Thundercats: The Movie"), and that's definitely the case for this "Batman 3" mash-up trailer that offers up a hypothetical brawl between Christian Bale as Batman, Johnny Depp as The Riddler and Philip Seymour Hoffman as The Penguin.
Created by YouTube user HawkeyeProtagonist, "Batman: Caped Crusader Teaser 1 (Penguin & Riddler)" splices clips from Christopher Nolan's previous Batman movies, as well as clips from Depp's "Secret Window" and Hoffman's villainous turn in "Mission: Impossible III" (among other films I could be missing). The final product is a compelling argument for both actors and their respective villains to make a bow in the next Batman movie.
Heck, with that monologue, Hoffman might even be able to strike terror into the Dark Knight's heart.
Longtime readers will recall that the original source of the Depp/Hoffman rumor was none …

David Koepp, who's probably better known as a screenwriter than a director, has set up his next directing project at Sony. Koepp will helm Premium Rush, a bike messenger action movie, being produced by Gavin Polone (who last worked on Zombieland). The story centers on a New York bike messenger who picks up an envelope at Columbia University to deliver. A dirty cop is desperate to get his hands on the envelope as well, and chases the bike messenger throughout the city. The screenplay was written by Koepp and his frequent collaborator John Kamps. I've got to admit, this sounds like it'll be awesome, I'm already excited to see it. Koepp last directed Ghost Town as well as Secret Window, Stir of Echoes, and The Trigger Effect before that. His most recent screenplays include Angels & Demons, Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, Zathura, and War of the …

Apparently, David Koepp likes the directing chair. Although this year’s Ghost Town broke a four-year hiatus from directing, Koepp is getting behind the camera again, this time for Premium Rush. Unfortunately for music fans, it will not be a behind-the-music look at everyone’s favorite Canadian rockers. Instead, Premium Rush will tell the story of a twentysomething bike messenger who innocently picks up an envelope from Columbia University. Of course, a dirty cop wants the envelope and will stop at nothing to get it. Though Koepp has written fantastic movies like Jurassic Park and Spiderman he has directed bad films like Stir of Echoes and Secret Window. Which will Premium Rush be? It’s too soon to tell but Variety is reporting that it will be a big-budget action flick so at the least it will have things that go boom.

Here’s an interesting thing: David Koepp, one of the most powerful screenwriters in Hollywood, is at last going to direct the kind of movie that he bangs out on a regular basis for his regular boss, Steven Spielberg.Which is to say that Koepp has signed to direct Premium Rush, sadly not a biopic about the greatest striker in Liverpool’s history but instead a high-concept, big-budget thriller about a bike messenger who picks up a parcel so important that he’s chased through a city by a corrupt cop, who’s desperate to get his mitts on it.So far, Koepp’s four directorial outings have all been relatively low-key affairs that have been based, to some degree or other, on a supernatural/fantastical premise, from Ghost Town to Stir Of Echoes to Secret Window to The Trigger Effect.Premium Rush, from the deliberately ridiculous title to the plot, …

David Koepp is best known as one of Hollywood's highest paid screenwriters (and one of Spielberg's scribes). His screenwriting credits include everything from Toy Soldiers, Jurassic Park, and Carlito's Way, to Panic Room, Spider-Man, War of the Worlds and Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull. For the last decade he's been trying to make the transition into feature film directing. He made his debut with the promising Stir of Echoes, but has since followed up with some lackluster efforts, the 2004 Stephen King adaptation Secret Window and the 2008 Ricky Gervais supernatural romantic comedy Ghost Town. Honestly, I think Koepp is a much better screenwriter than he is a filmmaker, and that's not saying much considering the abundance of lackluster screenplays he's been involved with in the last 10-12 years. With that kind of intro, you must be really interested in his next directorial effort (yes, that was …

Wearing Western gear—cowboy boots, hat and black coat—actor Woody Harrelson strides up on the (fake) night-shrouded porch of a Texas gift shop filled with American Indian tourist kitsch. Using his sawn-off, double-barreled shotgun, he dings the bell above the entrance to “Kimo Sabe’s” and steps to one side. Like one of Pavlov’s dogs, the now-zombified owner lurches toward the front door. All flesh-chewing instinct, the ghoul doesn’t see Harrelson hiding and gets a head shot from the gun, dropping like a sack of rotting enchiladas.
The kill, as physically shot, is bloodless (no squib used, but splatter may be digitally added in postproduction). It’s a far cry from the gore-drenched chaos and killing Fango witnessed 10 days earlier, when the gutters of Atlanta, Georgia literally ran with blood as first-time feature director Ruben Fleischer supervised a scene of mass mayhem, featuring over 25 zombies attacking screaming, …

Alan Wake, Remedy's Max Payne follow up that's like a mash up of Secret Window, Twin Peaks, and Alone in the Dark: The New Nightmare, will finally "see the light of day" (ouch) in Spring 2010, as was revealed by Remedy's Sam Lake at Microsoft's E3 press conference yesterday. Of course, I doubt that he would have flown in all the way from Finland to talk dates, so he also showed off some game play footage, which you can check out after the break courtesy of our friends at G4. There's something very Lovecraftian about the crazy townsfolk chasing you down (which makes me giddy as a schoolgirl) and the light/dark mechanic, which looks like it has you softening up your foes with a good dose of light …

David Koepp will be a busy man in the near future.
According to Variety, the filmmaker has signed on to develop two projects for Columbia Pictures.
First, he's set to co-write (with John Kamps) and direct "Billionaire's Vinegar," which is loosely based on the book by Benjamin Wallace.
The trade says the story is "about a scandal that erupted when an auctioned cache of wine purported to have been culled from the stocks of Thomas Jefferson were deemed fakes by some."
Koepp will also adapt Charles McCarry's novel "Shelley's Heart," a political drama about two friends who become rivals for the presidential election. The film's title will be changed to "Article II."
Koepp recently wrote and directed the charming comedy "Ghost Town." He also penned the screenplay for Ron Howard's "Angels & Demons."
Other Koepp credits include "Secret Window" and screenplays for "War of the Worlds," "Panic Room" and "Spider-Man. …
