This show is a load of garbage, a very poor, cheap ripoff from the hilarious "Kumars at number 42". "Greeks on the roof" is an example of Australia's unsuccessful attempts to create new shows with old ideas. One of the worst TV shows I've ever seen, it is painful to watch. I cannot physically sit down in front of the TV to endure this 'show' without dying of boredom or changing the channel. The characters are bad, the jokes fall flat, the whole concept is appalling. Why does Australia take successful overseas TV shows and ruin them? I am sorry if this review may offend some people, but the truth hurts. I don't want to see Effie and that awful hair again until she figures out how to write a decent TV show. It would also help if it was funny, as she is a comedian she should know a joke or two.

"Greeks on the Roof" is another example of the brain dead, banal, lame and dull witted Australian comedy which apparently can't seem to get by without referring first to some bodily function.
Add the parade of equally retarded Australian non-entities they brought on as guests and the whole show degenerated into an appalling parody compared to "The Kumars at 42". The "Kumars" is innovative, classy, witty, intelligent and wholly entertaining. Words that Australian comedy (or lack of it to be precise) just can't comprehend.
"Greeks" should have been banned for the sheer atavistic cruel torture they inflict on one's intelligence. To describe the show as stupid would seriously be a compliment. This is no exaggeration
The same ban should apply to the soap "Neighbours" which could accurately be described as a trip down insanity lane. Talk about suburban boredom!!!
Put the 2 shows together and suicide would be a blessing.

Worst Show With Potential Australia Has Ever Seen.

Years ago a comedy show was on called "Acropylos Now" that had Effie as one of the main stars of the show. She was rude, tough, took no crap, had an attitude and a mean streak... then in 2002 she goes and kills the character completely by doing this show where she just looks the same, but has no attitude, she's polite, she's friendly and she doesn't insult anyone.
The talk show was a complete rip-off of the UK show "Kumars and Number 42"... now, the idea to make an Australian version could have worked, they just changed the family from Indian to Greek. The show very well could have worked, but i think in the entire series there was only one put down, sort-of insult which came from the dopey brother asking a guy why he was British but still good at cricket. But that one line was not enough to save this badly, poorly written, poorly thought out, p!$$-weak of a show.

Where as this guaranteed bomb of a show had none of that, every time you expected a smart Aleck remark, there wouldn't be, every time you expected a come back, there wasn't one, when you expected a laugh, you where denied.
Congratulations to Mary Coustas for killing the Effie character... the show had potential, it could've worked if they did it right, but instead they only succeeded in a show that was guaranteed to bomb and be cancelled from the first episode.

where else do a family of positive underclass get to mingle with international celebs?? i like the show. especially the hunk who plays dimi. angus sampson.such gorgeous lips. he is very clever. and you wouldnt realise it but he is not even greek!! the guests who come on are good sports. every other show they are pushing something which is far more dull than the press release, ala rove or are from a ch9 program (stingers,macleods duaghters or shane drugtaker warne) ala micaleff. we love the roof! keep laughing and dancing!
