There’s a new street drug sweeping through Riverdale… and its side effects may include uncontrollable giggling when you hear its name said aloud.
In Season 2, the CW’s teen drama has not only introduced a roving serial killer, but also an illicit party drug known as “jingle-jangle”: a white powder served in Pixy Stix-like straws that delivers an energetic, euphoric high to its users. It’s the drug of choice among Riverdale’s rebellious youth this season — and its name has led to quite a few stifled laughs among the cast.

Pharrell won like a million awards at the Grammys on Jan. 26, but his biggest contribution to the music world last night came in the form of two enormous, 10-gallon hats.
When it comes to music and fashion, Pharrell Williams has been somewhat of a trendsetter because he sticks to his guns and takes risk. Hip-hop is a natural minefield for satire, a world in which oversize personalities talk large and create brands and fronts that rest on the fragile backs of 16-bar verses. Behind most clever or boastful lyrics is a grown man counting out syllables and scribbling down lines into a notebook. In recent years, though, few have spotlighted the comedy that unfolds between the seeds of a song and a rapper stepping on stage better than a gangly pair of brothers who live on the Upper West Side of New York.
Jeff and Eric Rosenthal are known as ItsTheReal, a comedy duo that documents hip-hop culture through self-directed videos in which they interview rappers or skewer their work in skits. Yes, Beyonce and Kim Kardashian are friends now as was most evident from their moshing it together at Jay-z and Kanye West‘s Watch The Throne concert in London. All those rumors of beef between the Queen B and Kimmy K, are just that — rumors. We love it when things are simpatico in celebrity-land, especially between couples. And couples which are inclusive of bestest of pals Jay-z and Kanye, that is. It would be a shame if their respective significant others didn’t get along. Swimmingly enough, there was nothing but love between the four at last night’s Bet Awards, in L.A., where they all sat together in the front row. Bey looked pretty delicious in a citrus colored gown, and Kim wore a white dress that looked demure from the front, but then she turned around and bam — sexy, booty-highlighting, backless, unzipped fashion moment. Kanye matched his lady wearing white too.

We like this latest rumor, courtesy of the New York Daily News, way better than the ones flying around last month about Beyonce snubbing Kim Kardashian in London. After Kk and Bey were spotted dancing together at Jay-z and Kanye West’s Watch the Throne concert in Birmingham, England, on Thursday — and an eagle-eyed fan snapped the above pics posted on @BeyonceLite’s Twitter, we can tell things are much warmer between the two lovely ladies. The Daily News proposes this explanation of why we didn’t realize until now that the two are on quite friendly terms: Kim knows how much Beyonce and Jay value their privacy. Unlike Kardashian, whose very career relies on her penchant for oversharing.

There was nothing common about Jon Stewart’s critique of Fox News most recent political furor last night. Yes, he played clips of Fox’s biggest stars lambasting the White House for inviting the rapper Common to a prestigious poetry event, since they claimed some of his lyrics were misogynistic and celebrated cop-killing. Sure, Stewart then followed that up with archival Fox footage that seemed to undermine their noble ideals when the shoe was on the other foot. Par for the course, you say? From MTV.Com: Lil Wayne lives by his own rules when it comes to recording music and, apparently, when it comes to making movies too.
The rapper is the subject of the forthcoming documentary "The Carter," set for a straight-to-dvd release Tuesday. The film, much like Wayne's records, is anything but conventional.
In fact, according to the project's producer, Quincy Jones III ("Tupac Shakur: Thug Angel," "Beef"), the Cash Money Records lyricist shunned the idea of a typical documentary in favor of a more raw, vérité look at his life.

Young Buck

First, the Game attempts to make nice with 50 Cent and G-Unit, apologizing to estranged former crew recently for his behavior. Now, is fellow former G-Unit member Young Buck getting in on the act?
Not quite. But the Tennessee rap titan, who was ejected from G-Unit last year, is making amends. In a video interview that circulated online over the weekend, Buck said he's set to refocus on his music career, and his reemergence won't include any barbs at his old boss.
In fact, like the Game, Buck thanked 50 for giving him his big break.
"My whole strategy for coming back and f---ing with this rap sh-- is the total opposite of what people think I'm gonna do," he said. "I think a lot of motherf-----s think I'mma come out,...

Wu-Tang Clan's Method Man performs during the 2009 Rock the Bells at Jones Beach in Wantagh, New York on Sunday

Wantagh, New York — It was musical, it was nostalgic, but most important, it was not violent. Guerilla Union held their annual Rock the Bells show Sunday at Nikon at Jones Beach Theater as part of the yearly tour. Going into the show, there had been heavy tension involving two of the acts, the Wu-Tang Clan and Slaughterhouse.
Slaughterhouse's Joe Budden had been involved in a back-and-forth with Method Man and Inspectah Deck for weeks. Although Deck and Meth were not officially on the Rock the Bells bill, it was no surprise when both appeared at Jones Beach to support RZA and Raekwon, who were slated to perform.

Fabolous

Fabolous woke up one morning handcuffed to a hospital bed. After being shot. Whatever happened to bedside manner?
Actually, this all happened to Fab's character Loso in the new film "Loso's Way," and we have an exclusive clip from the upcoming DVD.
The flick starts off with Fabolous and one of his hustling partners being chased through the streets. Loso evades the long arm of the law, but his homie isn't as lucky. The film then fast-forwards four years, and Loso has become a big rap artist while his friend serves time in prison and eventually gets out.
Chaos prevails momentarily when Los and his Street Fam are out one night, and before they all go to their respective vehicles, an unknown assailant shoots Loso in the leg.

The death of Ed McMahon, “Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen” and Perez Hilton’s scuffle with Black Eyed Peas frontman will.i.am dominated Twitter’s trending topics today, and the Twitter-Wood feed is on the case. Ashton Kutcher, Jon Favreau and plenty of others tweeted condolences to Johnny Carson’s former “Tonight Show” announcer, who died today in Los Angeles.
Tweets on the latter two categories have been significantly more mixed in their sentiments, but “Revenge of the Fallen” star Tyrese Gibson maintained his Twitter vigil that’s been documenting his recent film-related travels. Meanwhile, Ice-t chimed in with some public advice to Hilton. You can check out all of those tweets, our second celeb camera phone pic of the Mona Lisa, and much more below in the Twitter-Wood report for June 23, 2009.

Before Def Jam ever came along, Rick Ross was signed to Miami’s own Slip-n-Slide Records. In late 2002 and early 2003, Rick was pumping out song after song in preparation of the “original” version of his debut album Port Of Miami. And in early 2003, I got invited to a listening session to hear most of the album. Keep in mind that this was a completely different album from the Port Of Miami that was released in 2006 — you know, the one with “Hustlin’” on it, with Ross focused on wordplay and beats that sounded like they belonged on Jay-z’s The Blueprint.
One of the songs from the 2002/2003 version of Port Of Miami (called “Listen”) was produced by Kanye West. It was based round a beat that later became T.I.’s song “Doin’ My Job.” It became one of the many reasons why Ross and T.I. had...

'I don't buy into all that WWF nonsense,' rapper says of Pratt's attempt to start a feud.

Asher Roth

Last week, Spencer Pratt released a rap song, compared himself to likes of Jay-z and Biggie and really upped his street cred by trying to start a rap feud with Asher Roth. Well, Asher isn't going to give Spencer the satisfaction of an actual feud, despite Spencer's claims that he has more swagger than the "I Love College" Mc.
"I honestly don't even know what that means," Roth told MTV News. "For someone like that, who just kind of loves to talk — and like you said, he's just kind of a hype person — I've got way too much on my mind and on my plate right now to be dealing with somebody who is just looking for attention."

The Notorious soundtrack. There’s the sneaking suspicion that Notorious is going to end up being Ray with rap, but what’s certain is that it comes custom built with a soundtrack chronicling the life’s work of one of the most omnipresent and important rappers of all time.
How important is Biggie? Well, I’m a white middle class Englishman, and I like him. And that’s something. When a rapper gets played in a club in the Bronx at 2am, it’s one thing. When kids talk about him in schools in small towns in Sussex in between their Geography and French classes, it’s another thing entirely. (Americans who have no knowledge of Sussex – picture the exact opposite of the Bronx)
If nothing else, the Notorious soundtrack is a fine platform to emphasize the quality that Biggie brought to the genre – he comes across as a rough and proud urban storyteller,...
