Trivia:
Based on Marvel Comics characters. moreGoofs:
Continuity: In "Blade 2", there's a scene where it's pointed out that vampires can see quite well in the dark. In the opening of "Blade: Trinity", when the vampires find Drake's resting place, they use numerous lighting devices to see in the dark caverns. moreQuotes:
[first lines]Hannibal King: In the movies, Dracula wears a cape, and some old English guy always manages to save the day at the last minute with crosses and holy water. First things first, "Blade: Trinity" isn't a truly bad film. It just isn't in the same league as the first two. Directed by "Blade" writer David S. Goyer, the film is a little too lightweight. There are plenty of action sequences but the film's lacking excitement. The film suffers from the curse of "the third installment". As with so many film series before it, the third part is a notoriously difficult one.
On its plus side, the visuals are as sumptuous as always and the film has a "big screen" feel. Wesley Snipes is very comfortable with his character but there's little development to Blade in this movie. Instead, the film spends time on his two new sidekicks, Ryan Reynolds and Jessica Biel. Without wanting to state the obvious, Biel is breathtaking as Whistler's daughter, Abigail. Without a doubt, Biel is one of the best looking actresses working in Hollywood today.
Dominic Purcell is a half-reasonable baddie as "Drake" but lacks the charisma of "Blade"'s Stephen Dorff.
Worthy of a rental but don't expect anything other than a reasonable viewing experience. Goyer should have left this movie in the hands of a more capable director.
7 out of 10.
