I know this is tacky, but whatever... I dedicate this news post to all of those who claimed we were "making up" all of the Poltergeist remake news over the past two years - this one is for you. After MGM confirmed the news we broke over two years ago, that they were planning a remake of Steven Spielberg and Tobe Hooper's Poltergeist, it was revealed that Juliet Snowden and Stiles White (Boogeyman, The Birds) would be penning the remake. Then last week we exclusively revealed that Vadim Perelman (House of Sand and Fog) was in heavy talks to helm the film, which was confirmed this evening, giving us bragging rights for infinity.

The last gig that Ukrainian filmmaker Vadim Perelman was attached to was an adaptation of Ayn Ran's Atlas Shrugged. While that book does deserve a film, Perelman previously expressed his lack of interest and has now moved on. Instead, he's supposedly directing a remake of the 1982 horror classic Poltergeist. Is anyone else tired of these ridiculous remakes of iconic classics always popping up every day?! Our friends at Bloody Disgusting via SlashFilm recently picked up this scoop on Perelman and are reporting that he "is in heavy talks", but not officially confirmed, to direct the remake being developed at MGM. Maybe it's just me, but I would've thought Poltergeist would never ended up being remade... Just last week, Juliet Snowden and Stiles White were officially hired to write the remake. The two previously wrote the 2005 horror flick Boogeyman as well as the upcoming Knowing with Nic Cage and The ...

The Hollywood Reporter brings news that Juliet Snowden and Stiles White are set to pen a remake of the classic 1982 triple-Oscar nominated PG-rated Poltergeist. Snowden and White previously wrote the cheesy horror flick Boogeyman and will now attempt to improve(?) upon the film previously co-written by Steven Spielberg and directed by Tobe Hooper, but is it really necessary or even a good idea? Personally I think one of the things that made the original film so good was Zelda Rubinstein as Tangina, a character I don't think should even be in the remake if they really want it to be taken seriously. I think it would be unfair to even try and recreate Rubinstein's performance and thus should earn the film a new paranormal expert, The Orphanage proved it could be done with a fantastic and subdued performance by Geraldine Chaplin as Aurora. Then again, I guess it depends on what they are going for.

Juliet Snowden and Stiles White have been hired to pen the screenplay for MGM's upcoming Poltergeist remake, (based on the classic horror film directed by Tobe Hooper, and co-written/produced by Steven Spielberg) according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Snowden and White wrote the (absolutely terrible) 2005 movie Boogeyman, and have also worked on a draft of The Birds remake (coming from who else, Platinum Dunes) and the upcoming Knowing directed by Alex Proyas (I, Robot, Dark City, The Crow).
The article says, "The original "Poltergeist," miraculously skirted an R rating despite its children-in-constant-peril, toy clown-strangling, face-peeling, skeleton-swimming medley of horrors. The MGM/Ua release grossed $122 million worldwide and earned Oscar nominations for its Ilm-designed visual effects, sound effects and score. The story of a suburban home built over an Indian burial ground and thus inhabited by a nasty spook earned further cult status when two of the child actors in the

Reliving the horror of the classic 1982 scary movie from notable filmmaker Steven Spielberg, MGM move forward with their plan on remaking "Poltergeist". The studio have now signed a pair of screenwriter Juliet Snowden and Stiles White to make some reworks on the reboot project's script.
This project won't be the two's first horror movie project. In fact, Snowden and White have been known to be the specialists on this movie genre. They are known for their work in Sam Raimi-produced 2005 horror film "Boogeyman". They have recently hired to develop the remake of Alfred Hitchcock's 1963 horror thriller, "The Birds".
Considerably one of the most scariest movies ever made, the original "Poltergeist" tells the creepy story of a family home being haunted by a band of ghosts. Though firstly the spirits appear to be friendly, they soon turn evil putting the family in constant fear and eventually kidnap the family's youngest daughter.

Poltergeist just cries for a remake, doesn't it? There's no way any of the young kids today can relate to a film without high-def TVs, cellphones and MTV approved actors! Yes, it totally needs an update...
According to THR, the writing duo of Stiles White and Juliet Snowden, both credited with created the screenplay for the upcoming Birds remake and the snorefest known as Boogeyman, have been tapped to pen the redo of Tobe Hooper's classic Poltergeist.
I can't say this is good news. Boogeyman couldn't scare anyone over the age of 15. So, how exactly are these two going to properly remake Poltergeist when nothing they've written so far managed to outdo the 26-year-old original?

MGM has set Boogeyman writers Juliet Snowden and Stiles White to pen their upcoming Poltergeist remake. They have a hell of a job ahead of them considering the original was co-written by Steven Spielberg under direction by cult horror icon Tobe Hooper. In the 1982 original, a family moves into a house built over an Indian burial ground and becomes terrorized by an army of scary ass mutha 'uckin' (that's not a typo) ghosts. The duo has a little experience in the horror genre since in addition...

Finally, finally we have bragging rights. Can we now say "I told you so?" It was officially announced today that MGM is moving forward on their remake of Tobe Hooper and Steven Spielberg's classic '82 horror film, Poltergeist, which we broke the news on back in November of 2006. Inside you can find out who is writing the remake and then cringe a little with me. Juliet Snowden and Stiles White are going into the light. The "Boogeyman" scribes are rolling out more children's nightmares for MGM's planned remake of "Poltergeist," the 1982 horror film that made "they're here ..." the creepiest announcement ever voiced by a 6-year-old kneeling in front of a static-filled television. The story of a suburban home built over an Indian burial ground and thus inhabited by a nasty spook earned further cult status when two of the child actors in the movie died after the film's release.
