You and the little stud set me up from the start!
sol-kay1 March 2009
Warning: Spoilers
**SPOILERS** More then worth watching just for the unintended laughs it's supplies for it's unsuspecting audience. The made for TV movie "Deadly Betrayal" has this derange psycho wine and dine women, who's children he teaches in school, to not only get into their pants but into their homes in order to burglarize them!

We later learn, even though we saw him in action at the beginning of the movie, that Boston elementary school teacher Adam Hamilton, Andrew Jackson, had a rotten and miserable childhood that lead to the crimes he committed as an adult. While a teenager Hamlton's dad thought him, with his boyish charm and active libido, to seduce rich women as daddy snuck into their homes to rob them of their money and jewelry. Now all grown up and devilishly handsome Hamilton works solo, his sick and demented dad had since passed away, robbing women of their affections as well as, which really counts, their valuables. Over the years the young snot nosed and pimple faced Hamilton had turned himself into the sexy and highly refined and cultured , he loves classical music and gourmet food, elementary school teacher that every women in town has the hots for.

It's when one of Hamilton's young students Melinda, Amanda Tilson, tells him about the trouble she has back home with her father news cameraman Jeff Randal, Robert Seeliger, and mom Donna, Nicollette Sheridan, he sees an opening to Donna's heart. Determained to score big with Donna the cool and understanding Hamilton loses himself by going straight for her jugular! With Jeff away on assignment in far off Bosnia Hamilton makes his move on the lonely and frustrated Donna and, with very little effort at all, hits the jackpot.

The big affair between Hamilton and Donna doesn't last too long with Jeff unexpectedly showing up after he, his friend Lou wasn't so lucky, was almost killed in a rocket attack in the Balkans. This has Hamilton really get down and dirty in pushing himself on Donna even though she told him that their brief affair, as hot & heavy as it was, was finished. It's then that Hamilton pulls out all stops not only to get Donna back in his good graces but at the same time breaks into her and Jeff's home. In his clumsy attempt to steal Donna's jewelry Hamilton not only almost ends up breaking his neck but leaves an important clue, his watch, that implicates him in the break-in. This all happened when he slipped and fell down a flight of stairs just as both Jeff & Donna showed up unannounced!

With him now suspected in a string of burglaries in the neighborhood Hamilton instead of lying low until the heat blows over goes full tilt in taking out his frustrations on Donna for rejecting his romantic advances! This made no sense at all since he was only after her jewelry not her love!

***SPOILERS*** As the film goes on Hamilton gets more and more ridicules to the point where he ends up getting caught in a trap, a murder suicide, that he planned for Donna and another one of his many women-Jan Cooper played by Jennifer Morehouse-admirers. In the end Hamilton got exactly what he deserved but sadly enough it wasn't the law or police, who seemed either unwilling or unable to stop him, who put an end to his insane and obnoxious criminal activities.

A Faithless Wife Reaps The Whirlwind
DPerson62611 October 2003
Nicolette Sheridan plays a wife who is disappointed with her husbands dedication to his job that keeps him away from home for long stretches of time. She reacts to it by having sex with her young daughters teacher. When her husband returns home, on the night of her infidelity, she greets him with argument and criticism until he tells her that he is home for good. She thinks she has gotten away with her disloyalty until a video tape of her making love to the teacher arrives at her husbands office and he confronts her with it. He leaves, taking their daughter with him and she is forced to deal with a sadistic and ruthless former lover. The rest of the story is interesting and well acted but the ending is unbelievable.

Bad Movie? Checked
ghoule-582-20709127 June 2010
Warning: Spoilers
***TONS OF SPOILERS AHEAD***

Deadly Betrayal is the perfect example of what the suspense / thriller movie genre should not be filled with. Here is why :

1. Barbie-like cast of characters? CHECK.

2. Dull unchanging yellow photography? CHECK.

3. Soporiphic neat suburban locations? CHECK.

4. Cliché adultery story of a neglected 40-some blonde plastic-like woman? CHECK.

5. Hysterical husband? CHECK.

6. Dumb and deaf police detectives? CHECK.

7. International events playing an important part in the story mentioned yet never shown? CHECK.

8. Husband coming back home right in the middle of his wife's affair? CHECK.

9. All-Knowing, genius and mightily annoying magnetic villain having no problem getting tons of dumb 40-some women in his bed? CHECK.

This is to suspense flick what run-of-the-mill 90's slasher are to Horror. An excuse to fill empty spaces on video rental shelves.

Avoid.

If you're looking for a good movie... Keep looking.
nightstalker_2135 August 2007
I will admit that I don't really care for Nicolette Sheridan as an actress but this storyline would even make the most seasoned actress look bad. Her performance is lackluster at best. The supporting cast makes a decent go of it but it comes off a bit "soap opera". Actually, I've seen soap operas with better plot lines than this tripe! Which explains why my local television station decided to air it at 3 am on a Saturday night.

So, As the title says, If you're looking for a good movie... Keep looking. You won't find it here. Seems to me that this kind of plot has been tried before and with the usual results... A failure and a total waste of time for the viewer. Definitely a movie that is destined for the 99 cent DVD bin at Wal-Mart.

Completely predictable and therefore thoroughly boring
tperry-indiana17 April 2009
Warning: Spoilers
Sorry...I hate to disagree with some of the other comments but this story has been done to death. Briefly, a spouse (in this story it is the wife who cheats but it has been done with the husband being the unfaithful party...what comes to mind is 'Fatal Attraction') gets involved in a very brief affair with either a nut case or, in this case, has seduced the person in hopes of accomplishing their main objective. In this story, the seducer is a school teacher who seduces the mothers of his students. He has sex with them in his apartment, which of course, he tapes without their knowledge. He then burglarizes their home and sends her husband the tape. He goes to the police before she does and makes them believe that he broke off a short affair and now, because he is so great, she is stalking him. Anyway...I found it to be obvious and boring. I knew from the first ten to fifteen minutes how the whole thing was going to go. Of course, she ends up killing the bad guy, but only after he has picked her child up at school (just to terrify her) and he has killed her friend and stabbed her husband who survives.

Nicolette Sheridan Is a Super Star !
whpratt127 June 2003
This is a great TV movie, it keeps you on the edge of your seat and you are kept guessing just where this picture is leading you throughout the entire movie. Nicolette Sheridan (Donna) gives an excellent performance and makes you believe in her character as Donna. Andrew Jackson II(Adam Hamilton) goes from lover and charmer to a complete MONSTER. He portrays a very sick man with very sick ideas against women in general. Roz ( Leni Parker) a bookstore owner tries to help Donna with the horrible situation she has put herself in and gives a great supporting role. This is a must see film, if you like plenty of drama and excitement, a lesson can be learned from this film, simply, fooling around with a married man and also being married yourself, can lead to Impossible Situations.

Typical Lifetime "Women in Jep" movie; I liked it
vchimpanzee7 August 2007
At the start of the movie, a man enters a house while another man is doing the deed with a woman. I suspected the woman was cheating on her husband, though we learn differently later. Also, the man in the bedroom was a teenager.

There is violence, and then the words "20 years later".

In or near Boston (based on the newspaper shown), Donna is upset that her husband is going away for several weeks. Jeff is a TV news cameraman, and this time he is going to Bosnia. He claims the man who was supposed to go broke his leg (which is probably true), but Donna thinks he just wanted to go.

When Donna picks up her daughter Melinda from Dalton Academy, she meets Melinda's teacher Adam, who tells Donna how much he likes having such a smart and creative girl in his class.

Because her parents argue on the phone, and Melinda knows about parents divorcing when they have problems, Melinda gets depressed and Adam notices this. He calls Donna in to talk.

Later Donna attends a classical music concert (which Jeff was also supposed to attend) and meets Adam there.

If I say this seems like a typical Lifetime movie, do I even have to say what will happen next? Of course, the title kind of gives away the fact that the movie will take a dark turn about halfway through. And Jeff does return from Bosnia sooner than he expected. Donna does show a lot of determination and persistence in finding out more about Adam.

This is a TV-movie where a woman gets in trouble but finds her way out of the situation. Nothing more, nothing less. But Nicolette Sheridan is a pleasure to watch. Donna is a pleasant enough character and quite good-looking, in or out of clothes. Which reminds me: how can she eat fast food and not be shown working out, and still have that nice a body? Adam has a home gym ...

Leni Parker gives a good performance as Roz, Donna's friend and co-worker at Rosalind's Bookstore. Amanda Tilson is adorable and does a fine job as Melinda.

Andrew Jackson has the biggest challenge here, going from sensitive and kind to weird and manipulative. He does a good job.

This is the type of movie a can enjoy. I prefer comedies, but this was enjoyable enough.

Actress in Double Header
guilfisher28 October 2004
In 2003 it was DEADLY BETRAYAL and in 2004 it was DEADLY VISIONS. The same leading actress, Nicolette Sheriden. The same boring performance. First of all, she plays the victim. In BETRAYAL she sleeps around while hubby is away fighting a war, and expects us to understand how vulnerable she was. Tough. You make your bed, you lie in it. It just so happens the guy she slept with is a common thief and turns out to be a murderer. In the second film , she plays the receiver of someone else's eyes, yes a transplant. Here she sees visions of past murders by someone. Once again our heroine decides to become detective.

What bothered me most, aside from the bad acting, was the perfectly coiffed Miss Sheriden, the overly made-up Miss Sheriden (she even goes to be in full makeup) and the obvious sexpot clothes she wore, revealing her form. She comes across a bit on the cheap side. Here are two films where I wanted the villain to win. BETRAYAL directed by Jason Hreno at least had believable performances by Andrew Jackson as the thief; Robert Seeliger as the hubby and Leni Parker, who I though quite good, as the best friend who told our heroine to forget it. VISIONS, directed by Michael Scott had an assorted pick of actors supporting our heroine, none of them outstanding in my book.

Roz was the owner of the bookstore, not Melinda
SNina17931 July 2003
The friend who owned the bookstore was not Melinda, she was Roz played by Leni Parker who did a marvelous performance as Da'an in Earth Final Conflict. Melinda was the kid. Parker happens to be the only reason I broke down and watched a movie on Lifetime for Women.

Another blonde bimbo movie
guilfisher-111 December 2008
Can someone tell me why all these supposedly heroines of LMN are blonde? Are there no brunettes? Lovely redheads in the acting world? Must they all look like they came out of a factory of bleached blonde hair, too long for their age, and stringy hanging over their eyes. It seems that todays look is just that. Actress Nicolette Sheridan is no different. I know I reviewed her before and there is still no change. She is too old for the likes of her leading men, all who could pass for her sons. She roams about in skin tight jeans and too tight sweaters. Even with a hat on, her stringy hair is protruding in her face. Is this hair in the face and over the eyes meant to distract us from her real age? The director must have a crush on her as she seems to be in almost all the shots. The supporting cast, all of whom are so much better actors than she, consists of Andrew Jackson, the lover, Robert Seeliger, the husband, Leni Parker, the friend and Amanda Tilson, the daughter. Mom looks like she's competing with her daughter most of the time.

The plot is dumb and story weak. The ending is very disappointing and most unbelievable. Don't waste your time with this.
