After playing a wounded marine in "Avatar", Sam Worthington could land his first superhero role. According to circulating rumor, the 33-year-old is in competition with Ryan Reynolds to play the titular character in "Flash Gordon", a remake of 1980 sci-fi film of the same title.
"Right now it's between Sam, Ryan Reynolds and one or two others for the lead role should the project actually get off the ground," a Hollywood insider told Hollyscoop. The insider additionally dished, "If he [Sam] gets the role it would be quite a big deal as Flash is an all-American hero."
Before playing Jake Sully in James Cameron's "Avatar", Sam Worthington has appeared in "Terminator Salvation". He will be next seen starring as Perseus in 2010 action fantasy "Clash of the Titans", which will be released in the U.S. on March 26, 2010.
As for Ryan Reynolds, the actor is famous for his roles in comedy films such as "Waiting...", "Definitely,

Ice-t had some harsh words for Bill O'Reilly today in his Twitter feed following O'Reilly's displeasure on Fox News regarding this week's episode of "Law & Order: Svu." In addition to dropping an F-bomb a few hours ago, the actor expressed his full support for writer Dick Wolf, who O'Reilly lashed out at for using his name in an unflattering manner on the show.
Elsewhere in Twitter-Wood, "Eclipse" director David Slade came out of hiding with an update on how the film is coming along. In addition to revealing a composer will be selected shortly, he characterized the way he wants Edward, Bella and Jacob to appear. Check out those posts after the jump along with Andy Milonakis' favorite new Android app and shot of Denise Richards' tattoo. I'm @brianwarmoth, and this is the Twitter Report for December 11, 2009.

Former "Family Ties" mom Meredith Baxter attracted quite a few tweets when she came out on the "Today Show" this morning. Seth Meyers and Steve Agee, among others, took notice while a few others were still occupied with Tiger Woods.
Kevin Smith has been fielding posts about the title of his movie "A Couple of Dicks," which is getting a new, yet-to-be-determined title. I've included one of his tweets on the subject after the jump along with a former president introducing Jason Reitman's new film, Arnold Schwarzenegger's run-in with George Lucas and Paris Hilton's birthday message to Britney Spears. It's all in the Twitter-Wood report for December 2, 2009.

If you read Twitter-Wood for the pictures, you picked a good day to stop by, because I've got a veritable Twitter slideshow set up for you today, starting with a Woody Allen jazz performance and including but not limited to Emmy Rossum in a turkey hat and Shakira hobnobbing with Larry King.
You may or may not have known that "Pulp Fiction" writer Roger Avary was currently serving time at Ventura County Jail in California. His tweets from inside recently came to my attention, such today's where he introduces a new neighbor. Check those posts out after the jump along with Richard Kelly's question about "Avatar," Dane Cook's problem with Adam Lambert and Michael Showalter's feelings about "Bad Lieutenant." It comes as no surprise that supporting cast members in "New Moon" would try to splinter off their own factions in the endless "Team Edward vs. Team Jacob" debate, but it looks like BooBoo Stewart's got at least one backer for Team Seth, judging from his TwitPic upload today. Tinsel Korey, meanwhile, remains firmly behind Team Jacob.
In non-"Twilight" posting today, Danny DeVito had a nice showing for his birthday last night, even if his picture wasn't high enough quality to make Twitter Pic of the Day. Neil Patrick Harris posted a new shot from the "How I Met Your Mother Set" and David Wain contributed a courtside view from the Lakers game. Check out all of those after the jump where you'll also find out which actress enjoys dancing to Lady Gaga and which actor claims he's the only one who didn't audition for "Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen.

Ryan Reynolds and Anna Faris Re-Team for Tmi

Both Ryan Reynolds and Anna Faris should be familiar with each other by now (and you should be familiar with them as an on-screen duo), as they've starred opposite one another in two pretty underrated comedies: Just Friends and Waiting. If anything came from those movies it was the fact that both Reynolds and Faris have terrific chemistry together, which is automatically a good thing for their next project: the just-announced comedy Tmi.
Now, if you've been around anyone who's fond of annoying abbreviations (i.e.: Omg, Lol), then you already know that Tmi stands for Too Much Information. And, as such, that seems to be the premise for the film, which Variety says follows a relationship that becomes problematic when too much information is revealed…or something like that....

Ryan Reynolds and Anna Faris to Share 'Tmi'

There's something to be said for those plain old reliable comedies, those that don't bust guts or break records but are always good for a spin in their inevitable cable circulation, stuff along the lines of Role Models, I Love You, Man and Just Friends. That last one has proven particularly endearing (to me anyway) due to the priceless pairing of Ryan Reynolds' perfect snark with Anna Faris' endearing ditziness (they also went at each other in Waiting..., to much amusement).
It's that combination that gives me reason enough for me to care about Tmi, an all-too-honest rom-com reuniting these two. Hell, their teaming is itself enough for me to hope that they can do right by a screenplay written by the minds behind Serendipity and The Ugly Truth; after all, Faris did bring all the funny to co-writer Kirsten Smith's The House Bunny.

Ryan Reynolds and Anna Faris must have a thing for one another. Well, that or having them both on screen together typically means exaggerated box office receipts. Either way, after starring together in films such as Waiting and Just Friends, the two are reuniting for Universal Pictures' Tmi.
Anna Faris and Ryan Reynolds Give Tmi
Written by Kirsten "Kiwi" Smith and Marc Klein, Tmi follows a premise that goes while honesty is the best policy for a relationship, "too much information" might not be the best thing. Besides starring in the film, Reynolds is also signed on as executive producer.

It's been a long week for everyone in Twitter-Wood, especially for those involved with "New Moon." Someone at Mattel managed to sculpt out the abs on a Jacob Barbie doll in time for the film's release next week, though, and there's a pic in the feed today to prove it. Writer Brian Lynch, meanwhile, tweeted that the "Twilight" frenzy has stirred up cases of mistaken identity for him and prompted numerous friends to ask him how often he gets mistaken for the actor.
Jason Reitman seemed to have been hardest hit by the work week, though, seemingly passing out on his set. Check out that shot, along with with a "Star Trek" actor's brush with Neil Armstrong, Ice-t's run-in with Marilyn Manson and Fred Durst's plans for his "Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2" night-vision googles. Sliff 2009 Review: Under Still Waters

There is slow burn, and then there is no burn, that type of film that keeps making you think something, anything, is about to happen. Sometimes, if it is done poorly, a no burn film will tease you so hard that a big plot turn is coming just around the corner that it becomes obvious that no twist is coming. Fortunately, Carolyn Miller’s thriller Under Still Waters does offer that elusive twist. Sometime does occur in the film to make all the tantalizing and smoke generating seemingly worth while. However, it takes some time to get to that point, and, by the time it does, the film has fallen so far into no burn territory that it’s hard to recover.
Lake Bell and Jason Clarke play Charlie and Andrew, respectively, a young couple who are trying to work through their issues. Charlie’s father is a very powerful and very rich man,

Yankees supporters were out in force last night, and a few Twitter-Wood citizens were right by the field uploading pics. Brody Stevens may have shot the most enviable of the day, apparently getting soon-to-be-mvp Hideki Matsui in the dugout before the game. Jeremy Piven caught another high-quality photo-op, though, standing with his fellow Chicagoan Brian Urlacher.
Poor John Favreau was stuck in the editing room for "Iron Man 2," though, which he noted on his account. Larry King, Eliza Dushku and other added their thoughts after Phillies finally went down. ‘Tucker & Dale vs. Evil’ Red Band Trailer

Horror and comedy are two of my favorite genres and just like a Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup, I like when they are combined. Last month, Screen Rant writer Ross Miller did a series on horror films that were combined with other genres. One of those combinations was horror plus comedy and the movie he choose was Shaun of the Dead. Other great examples are the always popular Evil Dead 2 and Army of Darkness with Bruce “The Chin” Campbell.
Well today, courtesy of our friends at Bloody Disgusting, we have a new trailer for the upcoming horror/comedy film Tucker & Dale vs. Evil. If the film is half as funny as the trailer then I am really looking forward to seeing it. The movie stars Alan Tudyk (Firefly, Dodgeball) and Tyler Labine (Zack and Miri Make a Porno) as two redneck hillbillies that want to do nothing more than enjoy

Chriqui and Kilmer Join War Film

Here’s a recipe for … well, I’m not sure what dish this will make, but it’ll certainly be interesting: Emmanuelle Chriqui, a recurring actor on Entourage, and Val Kilmer (Tombstone) have joined forces with director Renny Harlin for the leading roles in Georgia, Harlin’s new war film.
According to THR, the film centers around “an American journalist (Kilmer) and his cameraman caught in the crossfire of covering last year’s military conflict between Russia and Georgia … [as well as] a Georgia native (Chriqui) and doctoral student who becomes entangled with them.”
While this certainly doesn’t represent Harlin’s average action fare, I’m not entirely convinced that the man has ever made a good film in his life. When the closest you come to a good film is the lackluster Die Hard 2 or the redeemably cheesy Deep Blue Sea, you know your track record is somewhat worse for the wear.

If the rights to the balloon boy story haven't been swiped up yet, they may have a buyer in "Donnie Darko" director Richard Kelly. He tweeted his questionable interest today even as balloon boy mania continued to occupy posts all over Twitter-Wood. Someone has apparently even started up a fake @BoyInTheBalloon account, which reached out to Andy Milonakis.
In other tweetage, Frankie Muniz survived a run-in with a dangerous snake, which may have come closer to killing him than any race he's driven in. Read all of those tweets along with pics from a couple "Twilight" actors, Fred Durst's anti-Facebook stance and the film that even Jesus apparently supports. Barack Obama has at least one passionate backer in Twitter-Wood for his Chicago Olympics pitch. John Cusack, meanwhile, continued his intercontinental rounds and tweets today upon leaving North Korea for Japan, though it's anyone's guess how he got in there in the first place.
In lighter tweetage, "Twilight" actor Justin Chon continued his TwitPic marathon, Christopher Mintz-Plasse took a shot of his sleeping dad, and Miley Cyrus showed what her dad, Billy Ray Cyrus does to cheer her up when she's down. It was an epic day of awkward headshots in the Twitter-Wood feed today, so go click on the photo links knowing full well that you are about to see some rare sights. Pee Wee Herman, Paul Reubens' recently revived alter-ego earned top honors for a shot posted by Andy Milonakis, but Alyson Hannigan, Danny DeVito and Ice-t all jumped in the running too.
None of them, however, openly invited New Yorkers to walk up to them on the street and receive a kiss, though, which is cannot be said of Simon Pegg. Tom Felton sounds like he'll be lightening up his mood a bit for his next non-"Harry Potter" project. The normally moody-on-screen actor who plays Draco Malfoy will be jumping into Jonah Hill's "Forgetting Sarah Marshall" sequel "Get Him to the Greek" alongside Hill and Russell Brand, according to his Twitter updates.
Elsewhere in our feed, the Twitter-Wood report joins John Stamos' former "Full House" cast members Bob Saget and Dave Coulier in wishing the well-groomed actor a happy birthday. If the mountain of awards "Twilight" and Robert Pattinson brought in over the weekend at the Teen Choice Awards didn't given him enough to celebrate, Miley Cyrus got giddy about the hug they shared. Wrapping her arms around him evidently gave Miley enough reason to retract any offensive tweets she's made about him in the past. It was also enough to top today's Twitter-Wood report.

Few directors produce a body of work that syncs with a decade as well as John Hughes' work did with the 1980s. From "Sixteen Candles" to "Ferris Bueller's " and "The Breakfast Club," he gave everyone who ever lived through high school someone to relate to. His power wasn't lost on on filmgoers or today's filmmakers, both of whom inhabit the Twitter-Wood follow list.
Filmmakers including Kevin Smith and Diablo Cody, who both picked up the plight of the high school misanthrope from Hughes, as well as other stars like Rainn Wilson and Eliza Dushku tweeted in with their memories of Hughes' movies this afternoon, and many of them recalled what it was like come to his movies in the middle of the same kinds of real-life melodramas that he tackled.
