I recently had a chance to see Katsuhiro Otomo's long awaited 'Steamboy'... Upon arriving at the cinema, I was ready for disappointment. Reviews of the film I had read were divided as to whether the film was a quality production, but they all seemed to agree that the film was severely lacking in storyline. Soon, I found them to be completely right. But, in the end, I don't care, because this is by far the most fun to view, entertaining film I have seen all this year. The animation is stunning, the action scenes brilliant, and the sense of adventure strong. This is the kind of adventure film seen rarely today, and for this, Steamboy benefits. Couple this with a strong message about the dangers of technological advances, and you have a winner. Highly recommended. 9/10 Bring on Steamboy 2!
