Exclusive: A Quiet Passion producer is working on an Emily Dickinson documentary.
Hurricane Films, the UK production company behind Terence Davies’ Emily Dickinson biopic A Quiet Passion, which is premiering in Berlin today (Feb 14), has revealed details of its forthcoming slate.
To accompany A Quiet Passion, Hurricane is now preparing Phosphorescence, a documentary about Dickinson to be directed by Solon Papadopoulos, the co-owner and founder of Hurricane Films.
Another Hurricane project is The Route, the first feature project from TV writer Joe Ainsworth, which is in advanced development.
The film is about an elderly man who makes an epic journey from John O’Groats, the most northerly point of mainland Britain, to Land’s End, the most westerly point.
The man travels by public buses all the way, using his old age pensioner pass. “It’s a beautifully observed piece about old age but also about the country,” observed Hurricane’s other co-founder Roy Boulter.

When it comes to the art of tag team wrestling, there are certain traits that any duo must possess before they find their groove as a team and can be considered elite workers. Teamwork, a familiarity with each other and an ability to always know what each other is thinking are essential qualities.
When you look back at the top teams in the sport’s history, all these are prevalent in each pairing. Teams like The Midnight Express, Arn Anderson & Tully Blanchard and The Dudley Boyz exhibited an almost sixth sense-like level of being in tune with each other in the ring.
As hard to fathom as it may be, great chemistry behind the scenes isn’t always a prerequisite for great chemistry in the ring. While common sense would dictate that two performers would need to get along well in order to form a cohesive unit, that isn’t always the case.

WWE has access to a vast library of professional wrestling’s past, with promotions like Awa, Stampede, Ecw, WCW and many more. This release is the WWE’s delving into the history of Mid South Wrestling, a territorial promotion based in Louisiana, Mississippi, Oklahoma and Arkansas.
Mid South is often referred to by old time fans and performers as one of the most influential leagues in wrestling’s history. Promoted by Bill Watts through the end of the 70’s and the first half of the 80’s, Mid South featured names like Ted Dibiase, The Junkyard Dog, Andre the Giant, “Hacksaw” Jim Duggan, Magnum Ta and “Dr Death” Steve Williams. Where as other wrestling promotions had slow and traditional in-ring work or cartoon style performances, Mid South featured a more realistic and exciting style of wrestling that featured characters that appeared more believable.

As fans we’ve seen wrestling go to some extreme measures that led to some epic encounters over the years. From Hell in a Cell to Last Man Standing, there have been many stipulations over the years that push the boundaries of brutality and the human anatomy. But there was only one match that went beyond… The War Games.
No matter where it was placed in schedule, the signature two cage spectacular was always the big draw for WCW. Strange alliances would be made and WrestleWars along with fall brawls would be forged in a team battleground of steel and blood . No Pinfalls. No Disqualifications. It’s just Submission or Surrender.
In the latest WWE DVD release: “War Games: WCW’s Most Notorious Matches” they look back at what happens when there are no other options and wrestling has go to war. I have to admit I was very...

The Dark Knight, 2008
As a land of shiny steel and glass, Hong Kong has recently become catnip for Hollywood productions looking for an extra dimension to their power buildings. In 2008, the Batman film The Dark Knight came to Hk to film a scene in which the caped crusader captures mob accountant Lau. The building in question is Two International Financial Centre, over 400m tall and at the time the tallest in the city (it has since been overtaken by the International Commerce Centre in Kowloon).
• Two International Financial Centre, 8 Finance Street, Central
Enter the Dragon, 1973
Hong Kong's greatest cinematic son is, of course, Bruce Lee (even if he was born in San Francisco). His filmography is short and sweet,...
