Evil Unleashed - The (Dancing) Mummy!!!
jade1-117 January 2004
The Plot - A group of college students unwittingly release the spirit of an ancient mummy with the help of a professor. The mummy wrecks havoc on those who unleashed her killing them one by one... but not before doing her rituralistic dance in order to seduce them. Now, Lisa must fight in order to save herself and her friends form the evil clutches of the mummy and send the mummy back to hell for good.

The Directing - Slightly above average for a shot on video feature. One of the better directed features the director has under his belt.

The Story - Been there done that. Same plot as the David DeCoteau flick Ancient Evil: Scream of the Mummy but on a lower budget, but the pacing is fast and it has a slight camp humor to it which makes it a better film.

The Acting - This is a mixed bag. Heather Ashley, Jill Moore, and Perrine Moore are great with the material they are given. Brian Guest and David Ortega were weak as the male students. Everyone else was either ok or need need more acting classes. The main standout from the leads would be Heather Ashley... she is a breath of fresh air in the low budget film industry. She has talent and looks to go far in the industry and be a mainstream success. Jill Moore doesn't trail far behind Miss Ashley and had only like two bad

deliveries. Props goes to these two actresses.

Production Values - Lower than your average independent horror flick but still acceptable. Nice to see the indy filmmakers film on an actual college campus instead of a made up house.

Overall - I give the film a 7/10. It is an enjoyable, fun flick that you won't waste too much braincells in viewing and Heather Ashley should keep any guy interested.

So close you can almost touch it. So bad you almost smell it.

Evil Unleashed:The Mummy is easily the best of the 3D features produced by Sterling(Boy,is that a joke)Entertainment but that's like saying Plan 9 From Outer Space was the most accomplished out of all of Ed Wood's films. If you're a 3D enthusiast and you're yearning for something outside of the family style and main stream titles offered on Bluray 3D this might be what you are looking for. Just make sure you have a few beers on hand to give it a boost.Produced a few years ago for the very small home video 3D market prior to the 3D TV sets. You had to view these with bulky glasses that gave a very strong flicker effect. The 3D itself was decent for a primitive form that was actually created by a lens that you could adapt on to any home camcorder. Inside the lens were crossed mirrors that split the image into overlapping pictures that were then put back together with a depth illusion by the glasses. This movie has been converted from those previous images into a much better 3D process that eliminates any ghosting or heavy flicker but you still have the cheesy movie to contend with. Most of the actors are there for eye candy because they certainly can't act and they appear to be killing time while waiting for their next porn assignment which in the case of the males actors is most likely gay porn. Probably the only reason they did a mummy story was because the prop and sets were available from another flick and they got a deal on them because believe me the other films in the series have practically no sets at all and are all shot in the woods with very few props. The story is pretty basic. A crazy professor resurrects an evil Egeyptian princess with the help of his moronic students. THe mummy appears as a nice looking woman, dances, gets naked and then turns into a cloth wrapped mummy and rips out the hearts of whomever she's dancing in front of.Repeat this formula until the last five minutes of the film when the mummy does a Kung Fu fight with older Egyptian gods on the side of good. The Kung Fu fight is pretty funny. This has been reissued as a double bill with an earlier film the Zombie Chronicles . In this the 3D is a lot less polished and the film is so bad it looks like it was made on a weekend by folks too poor to attend film school. The story if you can call it that is about a free lance journalist who picks up an obnoxious hitch hiker who begins to tell her retarded ghost stories about the woods they are in.The twist ending will be figured out by your six year old long before it's revealed. This film is merely product for the 3D market and exists for no other reason.OK. You've been warned.

IT IS SOOOOOO BAD
nogodnomasters31 December 2018
Warning: Spoilers
This movie is bad enough to get a 10 star rating. In ancient Egypt a female dies for the devil god Aman and is mummified. I doubt if the writer could even spell Egypt. Aman or Amon, or Amon-Re was the ram-headed god that never appeared in the movie. This god has nothing to do with evil. Set was perhaps their devil god. The mummification process involved a little more than wrapping someone in bandages. The dialogue was as bad as the acting. Our female mummy adapted very well to modern times, knowing how to give topless lap dances. I also couldn't tell if they were in California or Egypt. It is worth a peek for those who like bad movies, although I will warn you this is a Razor product. This is the fourth movie of theirs I have attempted to watch. The first one wouldn't load and two of the movies skipped, like the DVD was defective. The DVDs were opened from new cases and the problem persisted even after I cleaned the disc. Yes, all their movies are super VHS style and cheaply produced. But if they are equally cheaply manufactured, we can't watch them. I would recommend viewing as a rental only. Buyer Beware.

Parental Guide: F-bomb, sex, nudity.

Almost Great, but One Big Flaw
wurliguy22 April 2004
This movie was almost great for me.

As a fan of 3D movies, I could hardly wait to get this movie on DVD.

I have seen 9 of the 3D movies produced by David Sterling, and I have enjoyed 6 of them very much. I was hoping this one would be the best yet! It has one serious flaw that I will get to later.

"Evil Unleashed" has a very appealing cast, in fact the most appealing of the 9 I've seen. The production values, except for the "one serious flaw", are very good considering the low budget. The acting is very good too, sometimes comical, but that is part of it's appeal.

I love the "dancing" mummy. I found those sequences to be the most erotic of any of these movies, and the dance always ends in a bloody, gory, murder.

The music is also the best yet, and the music for the dancing mummy fits perfectly. I wanted more!

I bought this movie because it was in 3D, and here is the "ONE SERIOUS FLAW", only "KEY" scenes are in real 3D, most of the movie is in 2D or flat, and converted to a horrible fake 3D.

Real 3D is what makes any of these movies better than they are, why they chose to use fake 3D at all is a mystery to me. I hate fake 3D, it ruins any movie it is applied to. Real 3D is fantastic!!!!

If this movie was in real 3D from begining to end, it would have been the very best yet!

Whoever made the decision to use converted 2D should be fired and never allowed to work on another movie EVER! What a terrible decision. This movie could have been the most popular 3D movie in years.

I enjoyed this movie, but I wouldn't recommend it to any of my friends that collect 3D movies. They tell me they hate the horrible 2D converted to 3D as much as I do.

I could have enjoyed this movie much, much more.

To Sterling Entertainment and Razor 3D: Please don't make any more "Fake" 3D movies, your movies are so much better in "Real" 3D.

Thanks for reading my comments.
