One can't help but think that if Tim Burton were somehow associated with this project, it would be Johnny Depp appropriately goateed and be-decked in period clothes, playing the master of the macabre Edgar Allan Poe instead of the more interesting, but less bankable, choice of John Cusack, seen here on the set of The Raven in Budapest.
Cusack makes a departure from epic bombs like 2012, goofy laffers a la Hot Tub Time Machine, quiet indie vehicles (Grace is Gone) and his quintessential man-boy dramedies (High Fidelity, Grosse Point Blank) to play the revered poet and writer for director James McTeigue.
