This film is unusual for an Edison film, in that the film crew actually went to Britain to take footage of their suffragettes in action. In particular, they are there to get footage of the militant suffragettes--the ones who handcuffed themselves to buildings or broke windows because of their rage over having no right to vote.
Oddly, in most suffrage films the suffragettes are shown as masculine and stupid. Here, however, the emphasis is on humor, not ridiculing the cause. In particular, in a very funny bit, a man accidentally is seen as one of these suffrage supporters. You have to see what I am talking about by seeing the film yourself--it's very clever.
By the way, this film is part of a DVD set entitled "Treasures III"--a set of four DVDs all about social issues and reform. The second disk (where you'll find this one) is about women's issues in particular.
