'The Talisman' Demo Reel Based on Stephen King's Book

17 July 2008 2:17 AM, PDT | From Rope Of Silicon | See recent Rope Of Silicon news

SlashFilm came across an impressive demo reel created by Canadian director Mathieu Ratthe who took it upon himself to write, direct and produce a 6:30 minute demo reel based on the opening chapter of "The Talisman" written by Stephen King and Peter Straub. The rights to the film adaptation have been held by Stephen Spielberg for what seems like forever with directors such as Vadim Perelman (House of Sand and Fog) and Ed Zwick (The Last Samurai) dropping off the project in the past. In 2006 TNT announced the book would be turned into an epic, six-hour adaptation of the story with Ehren Kruger (The Skeleton Key, The Ring) adapting the story. ‘Defiance’ poster hits!

11 June 2008 9:10 PM, PDT | From screeninglog.com | See recent screeninglog news

Director Edward Zwick, whose credits include “The Last Samurai” and “Blood Diamond,” is just a couple of months away from releasing his latest epic “Defiance,” about three Jewish brothers who escape from the Nazis and join Russian resistance fighters in their struggle to survive.

Today we have a first look at the official poster for the movie, which stars Daniel Craig, Liev Schreiber and Jamie Bell (that guy from “Jumper”). It’s a pretty simple one-sheet, but it’s got just the right look for a war drama. The film opens Dec. 12, 2008. Enjoy the poster below.

Gibson Trilogy On Historically Incorrect Movies List

24 March 2008 6:20 PM, PDT | From wenn.com | See recent WENN news

Mel Gibson movies Braveheart, Apocalypto and The Patriot have all been named and shamed among the most historically inaccurate films ever made.

The Gibson trio joins 2001: A Space Odyssey, Elizabeth: The Golden Age, 300, Gladiator, Memoirs Of A Geisha, 10,000 B.C. and Tom Cruise's The Last Samurai on Yahoo Movies' new online poll.

Scenes featuring woolly mammoths in the desert (10,000 B.C.), Claudius dying in a gladiatorial arena (Gladiator) and Mayan human sacrifices to Sun God Kulkulan (Apocalypto) are among the offending incorrect scenes.
