As of February 2010, this review is being re-written.
I remember the first time playing Silent Scope. i was 11. i was so psyched to play something with a sniper rifle mounted on it. this was the arcade in the theatre. i kicked ass for about 1 minute, and then lost the game cause i ran out of time centering the Sniper rifle. since that day, i've loved Silent scope in the arcade. It's worth every token I pumped into it.
Skip ahead about 8 years. On a boring Thursday afternoon, I tagged along with my mom and next door neighbor to go to costco, a giant warehouse full of cheap products. after being given a hard time for not having a membership, i decided to head for the EB games 2 blocks away. thats when I saw it. Silent Scope on the Ps2.
I brought it home, and then I figured out just why it sold for 5 bucks.
Gone was the sniper rifle you used in the arcade. Gone were the hundreds of continues I paid for in Tokens. The game was still there, but all the things that made the game great, were not.
Silent Scope's Story is as follows...The President and his family have been kidnapped by terrorists, Not freedom fighters (as i over-mentioned before) who are demanding freedom for their leader. As the Sniper, it's your job to assist the Chicago Police Department in ridding the streets of the terrorists who have kidnapped the president initially. Then it's a trip from there to save the first lady, The President's Daughter, and then the president himself.
For 2-4 tokens in the arcade, this one will never die. The game is fun for as long as you're at the arcade. For the home consoles, you're stuck with a controller and a bad port. I still love the game, but all the good things about it aren't there.
