Hawalaat Directed By Surendra Mohan is An Action Crime Movie. Screenplay & Script Are Nearly Perfect. Editing is OK. Direction is Again Brilliant To Good. Action & Dialogues Are Fine.

Geeta(Padmini Kolhapuri) is a Press Reporter & Sister of Shyam(Rishi Kapoor). Leela(Mandakini) Loves Shyam. Movie Starts With Their Love Track. After Kailash A Truck Driver is Caught With Drugs Who Works For Dharam Das(Amrish Puri) is Killed By Sharma(Gulshan Grover). Geeta Writes Articles Against Them. Mangal Dada(Mithun Chakraborty) is Hired To Capture Her. Mangal Does The Same But Geeta Humiliates Him, He Changes His Mind. Unfortunately Geeta is Sexually Assaulted By Sharma And Kept Hostage By Dr. Prem(Prem Chopra) Who Drug Abuse Girls To Work With Him & Shaikh(Dilip Tahil) Who Works With Them.

Acting By Padmini Kolhapuri is Better Then Rest. Mithun In A Grey Character Does Well. Rishi Kapoor is Fine. Shatrughan Sinha & Anita Raj Have Less Screen Time. Gulshan Grover Does Better Than Other Negative Characters.

Music By Annu Malik Is Average To Poor. Shayad Tu Mujhse Pyar Karti Hai By Shailendra Singh is Fine.

Perfect case of Ovarcasting and dishonest filmmaking
santoshkumarmamgain9 October 2018
While the film is tolerable and not that bad, it could have been a good film, but is pulled down by lack of honesty in storytelling. while the main plot revolves around one female lead, they have surrounded the film by plethora of actors, who play little, if any role in the proceedings. the film boast of as many as 6 main actors namely- rishi kapoor, mandakini, padmini kolhapure, mithun chakravorty, shatrughn sinha and anita raj, barring padmini, and maybe perhaps mithun, none of the character are useful for the story, and it would have made absolutely no difference t the film, if these actors were not in the film. on the contrary the movie would have been crisper, with a definite screenplay and avoid of useless song and dance sequences, which are anyways poor and thus serves as a distraction.

acting wise, the film belongs to padmini kolhapure, not only because the story revolves around her character, but because she excels in dramatic sequences. she manages to shine throughout the film and is easily the best thing in the film. mithun chakravorty acts well in the only other important role. rishi kapoor is so-so, mandakini, shatrughn sinha and anita raj are wasted in inconsequential roles.

watch it for padmini and a somewhat promising plot marred by uneven screenplay and execution and unnecessary characters.

Front bencher fantasy.

Hawalaat review :

Made for the front benchers, Hawalaat is one of the few films where Mithun Chakraborty played an anti hero, Rishi Kapoor did action sequences and Shatrughan Sinha had smaller role than Dalip Tahil. Oofff!!

There were three rapes in the first half and one featuring Dalip Tahil and a young Shraddha Verma was particularly cringe worthy. The main heroine Padmini Kolhapure gets raped twice before turning avenger. Mithun da's Mangal Dada is somewhat memorable but Hawalaat is a film which, despite being a silver jubilee hit of its time, is best forgotten today!!

Regards, Sumeet Nadkarni.
