Though this special did not attract the same ratings numbers as Elvis Presley's "comeback special", it still won handily in its time slot, capturing 75% of the audience viewing at that hour. Among the offerings trounced by this special was Justice Black and the Bill of Rights (1968), a CBS News interview with Supreme Court Justice Hugo Black conducted by Eric Sevareid and Martin Agronsky; that program could only gather 7% of the audience.
The 3 December 1968 airing of this special on NBC came right after Elvis: The Comeback Special (1968) (both preempted "NBC Tuesday Night at the Movies"). But whereas the Elvis Presley special has passed into the annals of legend, the Bardot special remains largely forgotten.
