Twitter-Wood had plenty to celebrate this weekend, with a mini "Full House" reunion between John Stamos and Candace Cameron to Brett Ratner's wrap on his new Mariah Carey video and Greg Mottola's pre-release praise for Edgar Wright's "Scott Pilgrim vs. The World."
Elsewhere, "Eclipse" actor BooBoo Stewart is still making his photography rounds, this time picking Hugh Jackman's nose -- and Wolverine looks shockingly comfortable with the pose. Former "Family Ties" mom Meredith Baxter attracted quite a few tweets when she came out on the "Today Show" this morning. Seth Meyers and Steve Agee, among others, took notice while a few others were still occupied with Tiger Woods.
Kevin Smith has been fielding posts about the title of his movie "A Couple of Dicks," which is getting a new, yet-to-be-determined title. I've included one of his tweets on the subject after the jump along with a former president introducing Jason Reitman's new film, Arnold Schwarzenegger's run-in with George Lucas and Paris Hilton's birthday message to Britney Spears. Tiger Woods was a hot topic on Twitter this weekend, and that meant he became a trending topic in Twitter-Wood. Somehow his Cadillac Escalade has become a subject of interest too, particularly with one "Harper's Island" actor who pointed out that the golfer wasn't driving a Buick.
"Toy Story 3" director Lee Unkrich, meanwhile, retweeted some great shots of homemade models based on the Disney-Pixar series, they're mighty impressive. Also impressive has been the performance by "New Moon" in theaters this month, but Jim Carrey took note of the movie's rabid fans and issues a warning in response. I think we all knew from the start what movie was going to win last week's poll, but still, I was kinda hoping for an upset. Don't get me wrong, I love Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, but I didn't want people to count out Carrey's early comedies either. I thought the subtle wording of the poll question ("favourite", not "best") would help. Ah well. The good news is, Dumb & Dumber managed to place second, and both Ace Ventura: Pet Detective and The Mask broke the top 5. Man on the Moon wasn't as high as I expected though... I guess people have cooled off on that flick. Don't you miss the days when Ace Ventura quotes were cool? "Alllllrighty then!"

Here are your casting notes for the morning before Page 2 hits. Katie Holmes is on an upswing and Morgan Freeman gets into comedy. I'd love to see him do a lot more comedy, so long as it's not along the lines of Bruce Almighty, and hopefully this new R-rated project would do the trick.
I was already thinking about Katie Holmes this morning (it's been a while, Katie!) while writing about the downsizing of Miramax. She's in Don't Be Afraid of the Dark, the Miramax remake of a classic TV movie that my friend Troy's been shooting in Australia. Hope that one doesn't get a raw deal given the shape Miramax is in. Now she's taken over Liv Tyler's role in The Romantics, an indie that also features Anna Paquin, Josh Duhamel, Malin Akerman, Elijah Wood, Adam Brody and Jeremy Strong.

We all love Morgan Freeman, right? He's like our national grandfather, with his weathered face and soothing voice showing up in commercials and movies to tell us how to be better people and get through the rough times. I mean, he's playing Nelson Mandela in Invictus this fall. That's gravitas in a nutshell.
But when Freeman does comedy, the results are typically a little more mixed-- Bruce Almighty turned out Ok, but then there was Evan Almighty. I didn't see The Bucket List, and hopefully neither did you. So I'm not quite sure what to think about Freeman signing on to star in a comedy at Warner Bros. with the working title Dirty Old Men (ugh), about an aging playboy who finally settles down and his longtime wingman (Freeman) who tries to break the couple up.
Unsurprisingly, THR is reporting that they want Jack Nicholson to play the playboy, reteaming

Adam Sandler has fallen into a relatively diverse career. After his star-making turn on "Saturday Night Live," I've enjoyed his immature comedic stylings in films like Happy Gilmore and Billy Madison, but it's Sandler's performances in Reign Over Me, Punch-Drunk Love (a personal favorite) and recently Funny People which have commanded my respect in showing he can do much more than silly voices and sudden bursts into angry fits of rage. But it looks like Sandler is navigating back into more comedic grounds as Variety announces he will take on twin roles as the twin siblings in the romantic comedy Jack and Jill.
Of course Sandler will be producing under his Happy Madison banner with longtime partner Jack Giarraputo, but no word on who will be directing the script written by Steve Koren (Bruce Almighty) who has worked with Sandler since his days back at "SNL" and on films like Click.

Well I guess we shouldn't be too surprised about this next news story, but still, after seeing Adam Sandler poke fun at his own brand of low brow comedy in Judd Apatow's Funny People, it kind of felt like he may have been reaching a turning point in his career. Maybe he was actually getting interested in taking on more dramatic roles, and films that actually had something to say. Maybe he had earned enough money to start being more picky with his projects. But, nah... of course not. Let's not get carried away here!
Variety [1] reports that Sandler has signed on to star in a romantic comedy for Sony called Jack and Jill, where he will play both Jack and his twin sister Jill. Yep, dual role cross-dressing... this one should make Eddie Murphy proud. Not much else is known about the story except that it was written

Imagine getting your mitts on the 2004 Big Bear chopper motorcycle straddled by Hollywood hottie Megan Fox in this summer’s blockbuster hit Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen. Well imagine no more Boxwishers as this and many other famous film autos are going under the hammer this weekend at the “Movie Car and Movie Prop Auction” in Los Angeles. A collaboration between movie memorabilia company Premiere Props and movie car facility Picture Car Warehouse, it brings together over 100 rare and vintage cars as well as exclusive costume and props and promises to be a feast of film goodies for dedicated cinephiles.
Joining the aforementioned bike as some of the most exciting prospects are the 1979 Ford Bronco 4×4 utility vehicle from Oscar favourite No Country For Old Men, the 1970 Dodge Challenger from The Bucket List, the 1931 Roadster from Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull and the 1985 Chevrolet Blazer SUV from comedy Bruce Almighty.

Well the 2009 summer movie season is over for Hasbro and it has been financially successful. Transformers 2 has milked the entire world economy of over $800 million dollars, while G.I. Joe managed to drain the globe of $100 million this past weekend. So what does that mean for Hasbro their future releases?
Well Steve “Frosty” Weintraub over at Collider managed to catch Brian Goldner, President and C.E.O of Hasbro, before a special screening of G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra and got some interesting answers about a few upcoming projects: Stretch Armstrong, Candy Land, Battleship and Monopoly.

Right now, as I type this Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen is nearing one kagillion dollars at the worldwide box office, a total so large it has gone into made up numbers. At this point it’s fairly well documented that I wasn’t a fan of the sequel, so I won’t reiterate how there was no story and most of the critics got it right.
But Transformers got me thinking about how I used to take Soundwave in the tub with me and, while surrounded by bubbles, dive bomb the rubber ducky. Then, after I finished reminiscing about last weekend, I reflected further back to my childhood. Those were the good times before I had responsibilities and other things I procrastinate. Formerly known as This Side of the Truth, the trailer for The Invention of Lying starring, written, and directed by British comedian Ricky Gervais has hit Yahoo today. Here's the concept: Imagine a world where everyone can only tell the truth. And no-one has ever lied. There are no big lies. There are no small lies. Not even white lies. Until one man discovered how to lie. It looks like a quirky, crazy, fun comedy, similar to Bruce Almighty, except this has Ricky Gervais instead of Jim Carrey. I'm not dying to see this, but it does look good. And if you want to see a slightly different trailer, a UK version hit earlier today as well.

Box Office - 'The Proposal' Takes In $34 Million

The Hangover did better than expected this weekend, but still couldn't manage a third straight victory at the box office. Instead, Sandra Bullock and Ryan Reynolds both achieved career bests with the opening of their romantic comedy, The Proposal. Barring his supporting role in Wolverine, Reynolds had never had a $30 million-plus weekend, and had only eclipsed $20 million once, with The Amityville Horror. Bullock had never seen a $20 million start for any movie in her entire career, even Speed.
This weekend was different, though. The Proposal earned a very strong $34 million according to new estimates from Box Office Mojo, easily winning the top spot. That's the best opening weekend for a romantic comedy since Sex and the City, which is almost an unfair comparison given that film's history. Discarding that, you'd have to go back to Enchanted to find a romantic comedy in the $30 - $35 million range.

"Stretching" the Boundaries of Believability:
Flexible children's toy "Stretch Armstrong" is being adapted into a feature film set to be released by Universal Pictures on "...April 15, 2011...." The writer attached to the project is Steve Odekerk, screenwriter of "Bruce Almighty" and sequel "Evan Almighty," as well as the Robin Williams vehicle "Patch Adams." This is a decent comic resume, but I don't think the pedigree of the writer is really the determining factor here (although it it is still an important feature in any film's success or failure). I think the film's concept itself is so ludicrous that one questions why the attempt is even being made. How much of a plot can be constructed around a superhero whose limbs have a large degree of stretchability? "Oh no, the arms are elongating...!"
I guess given Odekerk's comedic background, the film will probably be straight quirky comedy-i can't see it as much

BusinessWeek published an article Friday titled “With Transformers, Hasbro Morphs Its Toy-Movie Model” about the toy giant’s brand expanding onto the big screen. It scratches the surface of Hasbro’s six-year partnership with Universal to adapt several game properties into movies, but it also mentions a small tidbit we’ve never seen before.
The business magazine claims Ron Howard is directing the new Stretch Armstrong movie slated for April 2011. It includes the news briefly and without further details, so we don’t know much more than that. This fits with the announcement earlier this month of producer Brian Grazer (Cinderella Man, A Beautiful Mind) coming on board, who has a close working relationship with Howard. When I say close, I mean they’ve made over 15 movies together, and they co-founded the production company Imagine Entertainment.
Overall, the idea of Howard directing sounds outrageous, but no more ridiculous than making
