- Cody and Natalie attend the "William Donovan Preparatory School". William Donovan was in charge of the US Office of Strategic Services (OSS) in World War II. The OSS eventually became the CIA.
- At the very end of the film, Cody's hologram-projecting phone rings. It's the ring from Our Man Flint (1966), also used by Austin Powers.
- The photograph of Frankie Muniz that accompanies Cody's CIA profile is a "Malcolm in the Middle" (2000) publicity still.
- When Cody and Natalie are meeting in the café, the Norwegian ice-cream brand 'Diplom is' is shown in the background on the wall behind Natalie. Also the 'Diplom-Is jenta' is seen on the floor to the left behind Natalie. Harald Zwart always puts in a couple of items from Norway in his movies. He has also put in the scarf from his local soccer team, FFK (Fredrikstad Fotballklubb), which you can see hangs from the door to his room. There is even a pennant on the wall of his (Cody Banks') room from the same soccer team. The colors are red and white on both the scarf and the pennant.
- The evil organization is named E.R.I.S. which is also the name of the Greek goddess of discord and strife. In mythology, she was the sister of Ares, god of war.
- In addition to the Norwegian "Diplom Is" sign at the café, a scarf of Harald Zwart's hometown football team, Fredrikstad Fotballkubb, is hanging over Cody's bedroom door.
- The exterior of the CIA headquarters was shot on location in the Academic Quadrangle at Simon Fraser University near Vancouver. This location is popular for films in Vancouver, and once doubled as an alien planet in an episode of "Stargate SG-1" (1997).
- WILHELM SCREAM: As a henchman falls while the E.R.I.S. facility is destructing.
- School's nurse is "Nurse Ratched" - same name as in One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest (1975)
- At one point at CIA headquarters you hear the intercom announce "To the driver of a silver Aston Martin please move your car". James Bond, a definite reference for the film, is seen driving a silver Aston Martin in Goldfinger.
- Natalie Connors was named Natalie after producer Dylan Sellers' daughter Natalie. Natalie Sellers was also the one who asked for Hilary Duff to play the role.
- Hilary Duff first heard of the movie when Frankie Muinz was guest starring in her show "Lizzie McGuire"
