Own the rights?
The only thing the remain true was most of the introduction to the Cat in the Hat, introduction to Thing 1 & 2, & the part when the Cat in the Hat cleans the house up. The rest of the 82 minutes of the movie was not from the book or TV special.
It barely received a 100 million dollars at the box office. While it was nomiated for 8 Razzie Awards and only won one category. The mature content in the movie was one of the biggest problems the movie had besides the poorly made screenplay.
