Just like monster movies, it seems as if the mad scientist subgenre is poised to make a comeback thanks to the success of recent films like The Human Centipede (First Sequence), etc. So what type of macabre medical mayhem lies ahead for us next? We'll find out in Braincopy.
German-based Kinowelt is going to shepherd the new thriller from Academy Award-winning director Stefan Ruzowitzky (pictured right; Anatomie, Anatomie 2) to be the first of three German films as part of its mandate to acquire and produce local language product.
Braincopy follows the trials and tribulations of a scientist who concocts a formula that allows the elderly to transfer their brains into young and healthy bodies.
So crazy? Of course! "And it's German made so you know it's good!" That one's for you, Vince ... wherever you are! Look for more soon!

StudioCanal's German unit Kinowelt has boarded its first three German films as part of its mandate to acquire and produce local language product. One of the film is Stefan Ruzowitzky's (Anatomie, Anatomie 2) thriller Braincopy which is being produced by Claussen+Wobke+Putz for German-speaking rights. Braincopy is the story of a scientist who discovers a formula to allow old and sick people to transfer their brains onto young and healthy bodies. It immediately reminded me of the "Tales from the Crypt" episode directed by Arnold Schwarzenegger called "The Switch" (watch it below). Ruzowitzky is also attached to direct The Last Voyage of the Demeter, a new spin on the Dracula mytho.

Now here's something a bit different. German-based Kinowelt is going to shepherd a new thriller from director Stefan Ruzowitzky. It's called Braincopy and is about a scientist who concocts a formula that allows the elderly to transfer their brains into young and healthy bodies. (Sounds a bit like that Tales from the Crypt episode directed by Arnold Schwarzenegger called "The Switch.") Ruzowitzky previous directed Anatomie and Anatomie 2 - more body horror tales - and was recently attached to The Last Voyage of the Demeter .
