"O Que Eu Vi, O Que Nós Veremos" ("What I've Seen, What We'll See") is a masterful short documentary, great narrated by veteran actor Paulo César Pereio, and talking
about aviation pioneer Alberto dos Santos Dumont, celebrating his 100th birthday. For those who never heard about the man is a very interesting on the topic of aviation and
Dumont's first experiments with hot air balloons in Paris up until the creation of a machine heavier than air, whose successful 14-Bis' flight in 1906 was the greatest
achievement of the period and recorded for posteririty (as evidenced in this film). Then came the first development of the first airplanes.
For something created in the 1970's, they had an amazing archive of images available which basically chronicles his life and work through time. It's very comprehensive and
wel-put together. Early in the movie we have images from airplanes and its use through time, which went far ahead from what Dumont conceived. His ideals were purely in the name of science and technology, never having a glimpse about its use for war power as it later on happened during WWI, when he was alive, neither the future wars of our current time.
The movie doesn't deal much about
his sad and tragic death but it tells about a tragic event that left him depressed for some time, a history that I never heard before, when a group of people were killed when one
of his experiments was launched and crashed on the ocean during some festivity.
Destined to curious mind who have a deep fascination for Santos Dumont, and while a biopic isn't released we have this short, one from period filmed by Lumière, a short
film starring Daniel de Oliveira and one minisseries (by HBO, I think. Still to be seen). 10/10.
