Sideshow Collectibles have teamed with Quantum Mechanix to produce a Serenity - 'The Big Damn Replica' Scaled Prop Replica. The titular ship of Joss Whedon's sci-fi western television series/movie has existed only in digital form only - until now. More than three years in the making, Serenity - The Big Damn Replica, has been painstakingly crafted to be absolutely screen-accurate in every aspect. Unlike most ships from science fiction, Serenity was designed from the ground up to be as realistic as possible, from her floor plan to her construction, using real-world components and manufacturing processes. As one of her creators observed, the idea was to make Serenity so real, fans could see themselves walking her decks. With such a sense of place and familiarity, viewers would never feel lost in this Firefly-Class Transport. Now for the bad news: This highly detailed scaled prop replica is limited to 1,000 pieces worldwide, »

Well ABC seemed to be out in the lead for having the most shows we were thankful for in 2009 with 4 of their new shows making our list. In second place was the USA channel with 2, while Syfy, Fox, HBO and NBC all had 1 on the list as well. I was surprised that CBS didn’t make our list but with so many already good shows previous to 2009 they didn’t have to add a lot to their programming schedule. Glee got our top spot while Flashforward barely made the list.
1. Glee
Couldn’t think of any other show to go here than this one. A complete surprise this musical dramedy series from of all people, Ryan Murphy, the guy who brought us Nip/Tuck. This series is a massive 180 from his repetoire but thats okay because we love it. Everything from the weekly musical selections, to the talented group of »

On Us telly this month, V gets a bland reboot, Wanda Sykes heads a rash of uninspiring new late-night talkshows, and Sex Rehab marks a new low in reality TV
Probe a geek of a certain age about his recollections of the cult 80s alien invasion series V and he – there's no question it'll be a he – will have only one response: the moment the alien commander extended her jaw until it was a foot long and then swallowed a gerbil. Over the course of two miniseries and a sporadically scheduled season of one-hour episodes, V chronicled the occupation of Earth by a seemingly benign race of visitors who swiftly revealed themselves to be evil lizards hiding under lifelike rubber flesh fomenting plans to take over the planet and colonise the flabbergasted inhabitants. V's journey from insanely addictive to entirely unwatchable was speedy. But it remained on the air long »

Warner Home Entertainment’s newest animated effort featuring DC Comics Heroes and villains: Justice League: Crisis on Two Earths, arrives on DVD February 23rd, 2010. The film features villains from the classic DC Crime Syndicate. Check out an image and the trailer after the jump.
Created back when goatees marked your obvious ill intent, the Csa is made up of evil, alternate reality versions of Earth’s own heroes, who didn’t wear masks! Though the Csa met it’s end in the original Crisis on Infinite Earths storyline, they none-the-less returned years later in a classic story arc by Grant Morrison and Frank Quitely.
Like Green Lantern: First Flight and Warner’s other recent DC Comics Home Entertainment entries, Justice League: Crisis on Two Earths, will carry a rating of PG-13, reminding us that Warner doesn’t just consider these super hero adventures as “strictly for kids”. Though February seems far away, »

Joss Whedon has done so much more than just work in the TV and film industry. He's created entire meticulous universes for his characters and fans to explore, and that's no easy task. Thankfully the man is about to get his due.
Variety reports that The Producers Guild of America has selected Joss Whedon as the recipient of its Vanguard Award, which recognizes achievements in new media and technology.
Whedon is a producer, writer, director, and creator for TV series "Buffy the Vampire Slayer," "Angel," "Firefly," and "Dollhouse" with film scripts including Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Toy Story, Alien Resurrection and Titan A.E. He's penned the comic book series Fray and created and produced Internet series "Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along-Blog."
His next feature Cabin in the Woods, which he co-wrote with Drew Goddard, is currently in post-production and is scheduled to be released sometime in 2011 by MGM. Given the studio's recent financial problems, »

Joss Whedon seems to be the jack of all trades. Fox can cancel as many of his shows as that they want, but other people are still lining up to give him awards and accolades. Ok, maybe not lining up, per se, but there's at least one organization that is honoring him.
The Producers Guild of America (PGA) will be presenting Whedon with the 2010 Vanguard Award at the 21st Annual PGA Awards ceremony on Sunday, January 24, 2010. The award is meant to recognize those with achievements in new media and technology, so it's likely that he's getting it for his efforts in branching out into new internet media with Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog (though it's likely meant to honor a culmination of his achievements). Past winners of the award include George Lucas, James Cameron and John Lasseter.
Whedon is a producer, writer, director, and creator for such hit television programs as “Buffy the Vampire Slayer, »

I’ve got a new addiction and it comes in the form of made-for-Web shows. The last one Screen Rant brought to you was Broken Toy by Forewarned Films and before that we introduced you to Joss Whedon’s Dr. Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog. Now we want to introduce you to a great 6-episode crime-thriller from writer James Moran.
A lot of you may not have heard of James Moran but you may have seen his work on shows like Doctor Who, Torchwood, Crusoe and the great under-rated horror/comedy/thriller, Severance. Moran has now moved from writing scripts to directing short films and started with the enjoyably creepy Girl Number 9. Each episode is about 5 minutes, but the script and acting feel like a 45-minute network show. It leaves you wanting to watch the next, wanting to see how it ends and asking the question “Can You Save Her? »

Never has an alien looked so out of this world. When the Visitors landed on Earth on ABC's hit sci-fi drama, V last Tuesday, none was more captivating than Morena Baccarin. The stunning, 30-year-old Brazilian-born actress - who previously starred on Firefly - made quite a first impression with humans and viewers alike in her role as Anna, the sly and smooth alien leader. (V airs Tuesdays at 8 p.m. on ABC through November.) Here are five things you may not know about TV's hottest new star. 1. She is a gourmet cook: "I love to get random recipes and try them. »

This season has certainly been the season for change. That is if you're a showrunner. On both network and cable channels, showrunners have been changed out. Some of them -- like David Goyer taking over "FlashForward" was planned. Others, like Scott Peters on "V"? Not so much. But the "Battlestar Galactica" spinoff "Caprica" change is a little bit unique, at least according to Mark Stern, Syfy's head of original programming. The big news has been the installation of new leadership for the show that has yet to make its premiere on the channel. Jane Espenson, best known for her writing and producing work on shows like "Buffy the Vampire Slayer," "Firefly," "Dollhouse" and even "Battlestar Galactica," was hailed as finally getting her due in getting to take on the very complex project ... »

I must admit, I only watched this trailer because it features Alan Tudyk of Firefly/Serenity fame, but it's actually a really good idea for a horror comedy, so simple that it's probably been done before. The movie is called Tucker and Dale vs. Evil, and Tudyk plays Tucker, one of two rednecks mistakenly thought to be horrible backwoods serial killers.
The reasons are understandable: Backwoods serial killers are used in horror movies all the time, and Tucker and Dale do carry around their fair share of tools and implements. But it's all an honest misunderstanding, even when a group of citybound college kids start accidentally dying in brutal ways.
Again, I'm sure something like this has been done before, but the one joke is funny for at least the duration of this trailer. I don't know for sure, but I think this is an American Film Market promo, because »

The news spread through the Internets late yesterday that Fox has decided enough is enough and has officially canceled Joss Whedon’s ratings-challenged show Dollhouse. This seems to be the week for cancellations, actually, as ABC also mercifully axed Eastwick and Hank.
Sadly, the cancellation of Dollhouse really should not come as a surprise given the show’s poor ratings performance this season. As others have speculated around The Flickcast offices, we have to wonder if viewers stayed away this season because they didn’t want to get involved with a show they knew was probably going to get canceled. Whedon fans are somewhat gun-shy after the way Fox treated Firefly — although at least the network gave Dollhouse a second season pickup, which Firefly never had.
Still, any time a show with this kind of devoted fan base is canceled, people are going to be upset. Fortunately, it seems Fox »

The headlines all around the internet are spreading word the word that Fox has canceled Dollhouse. To be more specific, Fox has chosen not to order any more episodes beyond the first 13 episodes of Dollhouse’s second season, sealing the fate of the Joss Whedon-helmed show.
Despite being overwhelmed in fan-voting websites by The Sarah Connor Chronicles, Fox went with renewing Dollhouse for a 2nd season, ignoring the cry for more Sarah Connor. Of course the popular theory is that Fox feared yet another long-term public lashing from how they handled the much superior Firefly space western of Joss’ years prior.
Fox letting go of Dollhouse isn’t a surprise. The show confused or creeped out fans in the first season with its core premise. However, when the show runners had a chance to capitalize on the flow of the story in the latter half of the first season, »

It’s a shame, though not a surprise to learn from The Hollywood Reporter (via /Film) that Joss Whedon’s mix and match personality drama Dollhouse has been canceled by Fox.
The Interweb is currently massing its forces and there’ll be the Whedonites screaming blue murder at Fox for pulling a Firefly, but if truth be told the series didn’t measure up to the potential or the promise shown in a few stunning episodes adrift in a sea of Fox-neutered fare.
That’s not to say that the series didn’t have its moments, and as I wrote in my review of the first season it was only on a second viewing that the subtleties were evident and though it seemed always to be walking under a Fox shaped Damoclean sword some of the episodes were riveting, with glimpses, if not spotlights, of Whedon’s best.

Sci-fi fans are going to have to go back to their old "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" and "Firefly" DVDs for their Joss Whedon fix. Fox has cut the power on "Dollhouse." The show, starring Whedon muse Eliza Dushku, followed Dushku as Echo, a "doll" for an organization known as the Dollhouse, which programmed human beings to fulfill tasks and fantasies for its wealthy clients. When it premiered in February, it got off to a slow start, but Fox hoped it would build some steam. Sadly, the ratings never took off, and the network was forced to pull the plug permanently. According to the <a href="http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/showtracker/2009/11/joss- ... »

It seems that, sometimes, no matter how smart, how full of ideas, how fun a thing may be, it will still outlive it's usefulness to the people who run the show. Heck, if beer can have an expiration date, so can everything else. And so the day that all Joss Whedon fans knew would come has arrived: Dollhouse has been canceled by Fox. Apparently, they'll air the balance of the 13-episode order and, most likely, shuttle it to DVD as quick as possible. It's not a surprise, really, given how anemic the ratings have been -- the real surprise was »
