From the moment the film sequence starts at the begining it`s amazing it has you hooked. the attention to detail in the intro sequence it`s self is amazing but thats nothing compared to the detail of the in game graphics.
Which are to put it simple `they are the best of ANY video game so far` the type of graphics used are pre-rendered backdrops and that to me is far better than 3D graphics. the type of scenery/backdrops used in this game give it a horror movie feel to it thats part of it`s charm and you feel that you are there with the character you are playing as every step of the way.
The attention to detail for the rooms and outdoor area`s of the game are to put it simple, if these graphics in this game were a woman they would be Jessica Alba = perfection.
The tree`s/branches when you are outside move to the wind that you hear as does the grass it sways back and forth and the vines around pillars in the courtyard do it as well. when you are outside you know you are outside unlike other games where you would say ``ok thats me on the outside now`` unlike this game where it`s ``holy sh*t look at this forrest, man does this look real or what everything looks as if it`s real``. and thats when you loose about 5 minutes or so just standing in the middle of a forrest magnum in hand looking at the tree`s and surrounding area`s in aw.
The inside of the mansion looks as nice as the outside especially the main hall of the mansion and the guard house area. the main hall of the mansion looks like something from Dracula`s castle when you go up stairs and around the entire 1st floor of the main hall lightning flashes as you pass windows and you hear thunder as wellwhich add`s a sh*t load of atmosphere to the game. you get the feeling that your playing a part in the scariest zombie movie of all time but in video game form.
The acting is better in this game rather than the that of the first one (the original playstation version) there is no more of this ``stay here i`ll be right back`` when the other character is trapped behind an armour plated triple lock door that Stallone & Arnold together couldn`t get through. or here`s another cheesy example of the original`s dialogue: barry is standing in front of jill and says ``is that you jill ?`` DUH!!!!!! who else is it going to be. thankfully there`s none of this in this re-make of the classic the original had it`s faults like Chris in the Saturn console version looked as if he had no neck :). but all that aside they were good in their day but once you see the Gamecube version of the original yo will never look at the original again unless you want to wet yourself laffing.
I`m sure i`m forgetting something that i was going to say oh well all in all this is a game that everyone who loves decent games should have. it is slightly harder than the original but not by much i finished Jill`s side of the story within 24 hours of buying the game and then in the next 24 hours Chris`s side of the story was finished.
A little tip for those about to play only burn certain zombies that lie on the ground dont waste the fuel if it`s a decent sized area then you can run or dodge passed the crimson head zombie`s like i do (if you are quick enough that is). or just leave the normal zombie alone and dodge it that way there will be no crimson head zombies appearing. or if you are near a set of stairs run up them a little and then wait on the zombie coming towards you as soon as it`s in grabbing reach run passed it on the stairs and it can never grab you on the stairs. doesn`t work for the crimson head`s though.
rating for this game 12 out of 10 and that rating goes for everything in and about the game, pure genius at it`s best all hail king Evil !!!!!!!! of the survival horror genre.
