luke-warm conspiracy
opdiva12 June 2003
This movie is not very interesting. The pace of the movie is very slow and the plot dragged out more than it needed. The movie is about a British politician, with a flair for midnight activities, is involved in a situation where a old woman turns up dead. He becomes desperate because he is up for election/reelection within 5 days. The politician, his ambitious assistant and the call-girl encounters a mysterious man who is involved in a covert operation and helps the politician dispose the evidence. Overall, the movie wasn't very satisfying...with only the exception for James Wilby. I found his acting (and the politician's) the only one credible. The call-girl looked too young and seems that she should have been cast in a teen movie. It should have been a made-for-tv movie.

STOMACH CHURNER

At first when you start watching conspiracy, you are aware of the bad quality, low budget, reasonably acted, and boring dialogue, but after about 15 minutes you are hooked on this dark fantasy, gritty intrigue and disturbing story line, and the acting becomes first class. The beginning was a kind of facade to bring you in slowly to what was unfolding, which was mass corruption, suicide, attempted murder and a rather large woman who had some reason, i don't know why of being in this film. I felt really sorry for the poor old guy who really did not know what was coming to him, when he entered the so called house of ill repute, that was the stomach churner of the film. But this was definitely a decent movie with loads of twists and a feeling of what really could be happening in the government today.
