Upon release of this game, Atari - legally securing the home license to Pac-Man and working on a translation for its 2600 machine - sued Odyssey2's parent company, Magnavox/North American Philips, for copyright infringement. The trial lasted months, and by its end two out of three circuit judges ruled that K.C. did indeed infringe on Pac-Man. Retailers were allowed to sell whatever copies of K.C. they still had on shelves, but after that, no more copies could be sold.
