Own the rights?
The German television station ZDF bought an unaltered version of The Gathering directly from the production company before the movie was sold to Miramax. Later on about 10 minutes have been cut and the worldwide known theatrical version was born. Nevertheless the so-called Director's Cut can be seen in German television regularly and features not only an extended storyline but also a prolonged sex scene.
